The room was fine. Air conditioning worked and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was fine, I would stick with the bagels/cereal, it was adequately stocked. The price was good for the type of hotel this was.

Overall, the room was fine for a one night stay. The front office staff was very indifferent and did very little in terms of greeting or even acknowledging us. The lobby furniture is really dirty and could use a refresh.

The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was excellent, up to and including the manager, Nil. A guest set off the fire alarm by smoking, not once, but twice in the very early morning hours (around 3:15 and then again at 4:20). This was the effective end of our stay and we left a few minutes after 5, unable to go back to sleep. As can be readily assumed, we were not very happy about this, and although it was not the fault of the property, Nil agreed to give me a partial refund, which I appreciated and considered fair.

The biggest obvious issue is that Booking.com "House rules" says this is a pet-free hotel and it is not. It is pet-friendly, although those with pets are housed in a particular wing. We only stay at pet-free hotels due to my wife's allergies to animals. We made the best of it and she generally tolerated it fairly well. Breakfast was minimal and unappealing to us. We stayed two nights but were given only a single set of towels for each of us; a double set is what we usually see for two nights. The top sheet had some small holes in it, but otherwise we were satisfied with the room.

Mexican Restaurant attached to the hotel. Beds and bathrooms were clean.

Poor value when you compare it to Holiday Inn Express SE Historic Gateway up the road in Winchester.
