It was quiet and dark, easy for sleeping.
Some of the doors needed maintenance especially at the pool house changing area/fitness room

Location and size of room was great.
Check-in was confusing. I received a message to download the app so I could get the remote key code. I assumed that meant I went straight to the room (like an Air bnb). I arrived late (10:30 pm) and found the building but the remote key didn’t work and I didn’t know where the lodge was because there wasn’t instructions on how to check in or where to go. When I finally thought to call the number listed in the app, the front desk clerk called me right back and told me not to use the remote key and come get the key from the front desk. I’m glad I was there before 11pm because I would have otherwise had no idea how to check in. Now I know the drill and things will go much smoother if I stay again.

The staff at Granbilakken should probably pay closer attention to reservations made with third party bookings. We booked on Booking.com and all the bed preferences and room preferences were made there. We then had to change the dates of our trip and every preference I had previously made disappeared. When I called to get our rooms near one another and two beds in each room the staff were not very helpful. The staff member I spoke to even said, "yea I'm not going to look at that right now because it takes a really long time." referring to seeing if our rooms could be together. I felt this was upsetting because in total we were spending almost $4,000.00 dollars with them. I then ended the conversation and was planning to cancel because we weren't able to still have the preferences I had previously specified in my booking. I was then contacted by a much more professional hotel staff member who told me that they could move three of our reservations into a cabin and it ended up being great. Then when we checked in the girl at the front desk said, "oh yes I've heard about you." which was rude. She moved three of our bookings over but didn't move them for the full amount of time so on our second to last day our key cards no longer worked. When I went to the front desk a boy at the computer said, "oh its this reservation." as if we are the problem. During our stay we were going to eat at the Cedar House Pub but saw a rat stuck to a glue trap right outside of it, we alerted the girl at the deak, and needless to say we did not eat at the restaurant while staying. Granbilakken is in a very cool part of Tahoe City with lots to do and the sledding hill was very fun. The cabin was dated but clean and we enjoyed all of the parts of our stay that we didn't have to speak to any staff members.
Staff were unhelpful and rude sans one staff member who called us back and helped us to move our reservations into a cabin. The cabin was outdated and our towel rack was even coming out of the wall and in disrepair.
