Definitely would stay there again!

I love the location and vibe of this complex. I also love the unique historical foundation in which this complex was built. Very different from the overall resort areas you would find in Poipu and Hanalei (east side) of Kauai. The cottages remind us of what was and is Kauai. Great for a quiet retreat or family fun!

On the beach, close to the Canyo.

We really enjoyed the privacy of the cottages. The grounds were lovely, very quiet and relaxing. We had a garden view cottage, but the beach was still only a very short walk away. The staff was very friendly. The property is only a short drive to Waimea Canyon.

We had a beautiful experience and will recommend all our friends to stay there.

Our cottage overlooked the beautiful ocean. We so enjoyed sitting on the beach in provided chairs watching the sunsets. It was like being in a beautiful dream for it was very quiet and serene. The cottage was spacious and comfortable.

What could have been better is that we provided some of our own meals. There were plenty of utensils to work with but there was not any basic cooking needs such as: salt and pepper, olive oil, spices, etc. We also had some problems with the operation of the air conditioners. This is such a beautiful place which warrants a better eatery!!!

If we ever travel to Kauai again, we will definitely return.

Gorgeous grounds and an old-style Hawaiian ambiance, Waimea Plantation Cottages stole our hearts. Yes, things are a bit old and worn, but that’s easy to overlook when you have the Pacific in your view, and you’re surrounded by plumeria trees, monkey pods, and banyans, birdsong in your ear. The bed was comfortable and the cottage cool. A pool near the ocean is a nice feature, too. As my husband said, “This is unpretentious luxury.”

The couch in our unit was uncomfortable.

Charming historic cottages with a glamping feel, perfect for romantic travelers and weddings, though facilities are aged

The cottages have their own charm and give off a bit of a glamping feel. You’re really buying into history here, and the setting is perfect for a picturesque wedding. That said, don’t expect any sort of luxury—it’s a very simple, pragmatic little cabin on the old plantations. A nice touch, but best suited for romantic travelers. Definitely has those authentic Kauai vibes.

The facilities are a bit dated, and the kitchen was sparsely equipped—no salt or pepper provided. Think of it as a BYOS (bring your own salt) situation.

Pros: Location is peaceful, quiet and serene Complimentary Laundry on site for guests

Cons: Cottage was old, outdated, dirty. A lot of dust and dirt on ALL windows. I broke out due to the dirty conditions of the cottage. NO turndown service available. Needed towels and couldn’t get anyone. NO one answers the phone during normal business hours. Took me two days to reach someone to get more towels. Couldn’t swim in the beach at all because it isn’t clean for swimming EVER. Laundry facility ONLY has 2 washers/ 2 dryers with one dryer out of service. Always waiting and searching for front desk personnel during normal business hours.

The staff was very supportive, we had made a mistake with the reservation, but the staff went over and beyond to ensure we could have the best possible stay, and I did make a world of difference! Great care, support and flexibility, also the structure is unique, and so beautiful it is amazing!!

Looking forward to returning someday

Beautiful, serene country beach resort. It was welcoming, private yet friendly. Very peaceful. It was perfect for travelling with our toddler/1.5 year old. She loved the beach, trees, pool, beautiful flowers around the grounds. The cottage had all the amenities to stay comfortably and not want to leave!

The property is in a small cute town but quite far from Lihue. This was fine for us. It would’ve made more sense to buy food in Lihue and cook more in the cottage. We didn’t understand the remoteness of the area until arrived.

An old Kauai feel property.

The cottage was fully equipped with all we needed. We especially liked the beautiful grounds and the trees surrounding the cottages. Keeping the main building & reception is a plus

Cottages and the quiet is a plus for us before we headed to Hanelei. The only negative is the lack of restaurants in the area which I understand as people passing through from the canyon.

Would definitely come back!

Loved this place. Would definitely stay again. View from the room, comfort, gorgeous porch, air conditioning, everything was great. The restaurant- chicken bbq, and pizza, and the great beer selection made it worth coming home for dinner at night. The wonderful staff even provided us with beach chairs and an umbrella and cooler to take to the beach with us.

Plantation-era cottage in quiet setting; expected more amenities for high price.

Elegant vibe combined with authentic plantation buildings. Quiet. Nicely located at base of Waimea Canyon, where we hiked for several days. Clean. Complementary laundry facilities.

Facilities a bit rough: refrigerator had condensation ice on back wall and froze our vegetables. We missed the niceties found at other lodgings: coffee, basic seasonings, olive oil, welcome basket. Screen door swung open unless locked. No beach towels, chairs, or other beach stuff, despite beachfront property.

We did not pay extra for an ocean view, but WOW! Our cabin (35) was situated in a wonderful location, quiet and so beautiful across from a park with a partial ocean view. The entire property is gorgeous! Our cabin was so cozy!

We loved the location, ocean, beautiful grounds, quiet, and darling historic cottages. We also have very special memories of a previous visit over 20 years ago. The town of Waimea is charming too.

The restaurant was extremely basic and had plastic silverware.--it was disappointing. The staff was very nice, though.

Great spot for a meteor shower

Reserved a room here to get a remote area where we could watch the meteor shower. This place exceeded our expectations. This was a beautiful little cottage right on the beach. IT was quaint but it was everything we needed. No, this is not the Marriott but it was so much more. We walked out the front door of the cottage and walked right up to the beach. There were so many stars in the sky and there was no light pollution anywhere. We will definitely return again

Waimea Cottages made our wedding honeymoon perfect! Our own home to cook and stay in paradise!

We loved everything about it. When we asked for a BBQ it was promptly brought to our cottage. We got married at another location and my husband requested the office staff to bring champagne, chocolates and flowers to our cottage for our return. They did a beautiful job and made the evening perfect.

Larger variety of items in the gift shop. I know there is limited space but would have liked to see more options for all ages.

Great location for hikes, beautiful surroundings, cute cottage, overall a bit outdated.

Quiet and beautiful location, amazing vegetation (fruit trees) and close to the coastline, cute cottage with all amenities (also for cooking), private parking in front of the cottage, good location for hikes in the Waimea Canyon.

The rooms are a bit outdated (especially the bathroom), the curtains in the bedroom are see-through, lots of mosquitos (but that's not their fault).

Friendly staff, close to Waimea canyon.

We basically booked a property on this side to watch pretty sunrises, but you cannot see them from the seaside here unfortunately due to the trees. The pool was okay, but not too special and rather cold. Lots of mosquitos to sit comfortably outside.

incredible location it’s right on the beach and Waimea is a charming off the beaten path town.

They only clean your place once a week and you have to request it. getting fresh towels is not automatic
