America's Best Value Inn Clarksdale

The room was good sized and checked all of the boxes. I liked the bed a lot. Boyfriend thought it was soft. Large fridge and microwave were nice. No in-room coffee, but coffee was convenient with breakfast. The king room had a nice couch and also a comfortable desk chair and another chair that we used, a coffee table, and several other surfaces for all of our stuff. We had plenty of space, which is not always the case. The shower was hot and the room was quiet. Air conditioning was cold and quiet. Also, and importantly, the lighting in the room was good. There were plenty of lamps, so good options for reading and ambience. Yes, it was dated, but it cost about $100/night less than our alternatives. It was a good value. The hotel was full, but everyone was courteous and the place felt welcoming. The hotel location was better than I expected. Less than a mile from downtown, and it gave us the opportunity to see more of the community than we would if we had stayed downtown. The front desk clerk recommended Hibachi as a good choice to eat like the locals and it was close and excellent—a buffet with soul food and chinese/japanese. The hotel owners were very present on the property and very kind/helpful. The guest laundry was good—bring your own detergent—and the dryer runs forever, so your clothes WILL get dry without more quarters. Don’t be put off by low ratings. If you read recent reviews you can see people like this place. The owners are working hard to give you something nice at a good price. This place was a good addition to our Delta blues experience. Final note, we have an electric car, and were able to add a few miles using our 120v charging cord plugged in overnight. There are several convenient outside outlets, and the owners were agreeable about letting us plug in (I asked first). That was a nice bonus, since the nearest fast charger was about 70 miles down the road for us.

The front office is dark and uninviting, so makes for a less than optimal checkin experience. I didn’t notice this, but the boyfriend commented on it later and it’s true….

Very friendly and kind people staff at the front desk, nice and clean room and the bed was perfect.

Very friendly couple runs the place. I got a ride to the local club because there is no uber in town.

Location, staff tried to be helpful but very difficult with a very outdated property. Room size was good.

Bedding was so awful and dated, holes in sheets, but was large and comfortable. Breakfast was rather stale but ok when toasted.
