    Not alot to do in Bakersfield. Travelodge provided a restful comfortable stopover. Good value for money.

    The staff was great. The room was clean and comfortable. The only problem was the TV kept losing it signals. I was there for three days and it probably happened five or six times.

    First of all, the booking is supposed to include free breakfast but it turns out the free breakfast is actually a "coffee". Also when we were first assigned a room, the heater (it's winter) didn't work (only blowing cold air), there was a baby cockroach in the toilet sink, the bathtub drain was clogged and the flooring wasn't carpet so you could see all the damage to the floor panels. I have never in my life asked to be changed to another room but this time I did. Fortunately the front desk staff was super nice and apologetic about it - he called his manager and changed us to another room just upstairs. Please note there are no elevators so you do have to carry your baggage 1 floor up. The room upstairs had a working heater, bathtub drain was fine, flooring was better, but no hairdryer. Ultimately since we only stayed 1 night, it was tolerable. I don't even ask for much. Just a clean space, decent bed and a nice shower but even that, this place fell short. Another positive is that the room was spacious and we got a king bed though we booked a queen.
