This was my second stay at A Friendly Inn. It is a great alternative to chain hotels when in Cambridge. The building is old and funky, but comfortable. I like the fact that each room is different and has some real character. It's an easy walk to Harvard Square and the T. There is no breakfast available, but there is a coffee machine in one of the common areas.
The inn is on a busy street, and if street noise bothers you, you should definitely request a room on the back side of the building. The only other negative is that the lighting in our room was insufficient - no overhead light, and a reading light on only one side of the bed. Two reading lights seems like a minimum requirement to me.

Could use some updating. Fells a bit tawdry, although just fine as a solo traaveller with a great location for a reunion.

Great location, nice staff. Quaint building.
Cleanliness: dust on shelves, hair on bathroom floor, and debris stuck to bathroom walls. Beds were extremely thin. Shades cannot block out street lights if you want the AC on, so it’s pretty bright inside.
