Overall, it was a cozy stay with an unbeatable beachfront location.

Great location right on the beach! We loved that there were chairs and a fire pit overlooking the ocean—perfect for relaxing and hanging out. The room was a bit small, but it was clean and had everything we needed, including a coffee machine inside, which was a nice touch. Breakfast was simple but just enough to start the day.

The room was on the smaller side, so having a bit more space would have made the stay even more comfortable.

Cheap poorly executed renovations, flies in the room, old bedding, paint needs refreshing, mix n match flooring/baseboards. A little crumby all around.

The coast-est with the most-est!

Beautiful location on the coast! Great outdoor area to take in the scenery, which included fire pit and a barbecue. Our host was amazing, funny and kind. Very welcoming. The continental breakfast was very satisfying.

I loved the location, right on the beach. Had chairs and fire pit to just hang out. Breakfast was simple but all you needed. Super fancy coffee machine. Staff was excellent!

The woman Inn keeper is very nice!! Very nice breakfast variety and awesome deluxe coffee machine. Feet from ocean Calif with incredible view. Easy walk to most of town. Two fully stocked grocery markets nearby. Park in front of room.

I had a very pleasant stay, got the rest I needed, and hit the road with coffee and breakfast.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast was simple, but plenty of choices, including espresso drinks, to get me on the road. New bed (installed that day) was super comfortable.

Space was a little limited, bathroom could use a fan.

A comfortable stay and very convenient to great hikinv trails.

This was my fourth visit to the property over the past six years. Jade, the manager is fabulous and even offered us a bottle of wine to enjoy while we waited for our room to be finished. The views of the ocean are fantastic and the wildlife in the surf area was great to watch. After dark, we sat around the cozy fire pit, ate a fabulous take-out pizza from the pizza parlor across the street, and listened to the waves. In the mornings, we enjoyed our specialty coffees and pastries, and watched the hummingbirds feeding from the many flowering bushes around the property. The nearby hiking trails are great and offer beautiful views of the north coast. Beds were super comfy too and it was very quiet at night.

Nothing and I can’t wait to come back again.

Nice inn for a short stay driving up the coast

Small, but clean and comfortable. Lots of outdoor areas to sit and look at the beautiful views. Breakfast had a variety of items to grab for the ride up north.

Bathroom tile behind toilet was unfinished giving that room an incomplete look.

"Breakfast" wasn't, it was granola bars and Costco coffee. The front desk person lives on site, yet she was rude, short tempered, dismissive and mostly unavailable, as if it was a chore for her to be there. Made my stay for a beautiful wedding in Gualala a bit tainted.

Cozy charming motel on the coast

The lovely lady who runs the motel is greeted us and was extremely warm and welcoming. Gave recommendations for good dinner nearby. The location is amazing right along the coast. You have a beautiful trail right outside your door across the parking lot. Our room was clean and everything worked well (occasionally not the case is some older motels). I love the charming calm energy of this spot and will definitely be back again soon.

We got a wonderful deal on an upgraded room with an ocean view! Honestly the nicest view I’ve ever had in a hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was clean! Easy access to places for your dogs to use the restroom. Mini fridge, microwave, keurig with cups and pods! Very nice touches. Jade was incredible!

Shower didn’t have much pressure and didn’t stay hot long. The position of the room with all the different larger pieces of furniture made it a lil cramped. Microwave was in French with no translations lol

We didn’t like the property and didn’t enjoy our stay.

The property was very old and poorly maintained. Non of the electrical equipment was working (microwave, fridge, etc.). The bed was horrible. It had bumps and very uneven on the surface. We couldn’t sleep at all during the night since the bed was horribly uncomfortable. I will not recommend this place at all.

From the moment I arrived at Surf Inn, my experience was nothing short of remarkable. Jade, the manager, had already prepared my documents well ahead of time, ensuring a smooth check-in process. Despite my additional requests, she went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed, including a much-appreciated supply of coffee to revive me after my long journey and keep me energized for the evening ahead. Traveling with my dog was effortless, as Surf Inn welcomes pets in all their rooms. When I requested a last-minute switch from a single queen room to accommodate a friend, Jade made it happen seamlessly. The new room was a delightful upgrade with an ocean view (see photo), ample layout, and exceptionally comfortable double beds. Thoughtfully designed amenities like the coffee maker, fridge, and microwave were unobtrusively placed, blending beautifully into the room's décor. The large flat counter is perfect for minor meal prep and for me, the most comfortable spot to wrap gifts. Adding to the convenience, breakfast service resumed during my stay—a lovely perk—and there is a bright, well-equipped laundry room that will be invaluable for longer visits. While the comfort and amenities were outstanding, what truly set this property apart was Jade. Her thoughtful, warm, and professional demeanor transformed an already excellent stay into an exceptional experience. Her energy and genuine care for guests are unmatched, and it’s clear that her presence elevates Surf Inn far beyond other properties. She truly embodies hospitality at its finest. Thank you, Jade, for making my stay so comfortable and worth the drive.
