The Surf Lodge and Pub

Location was excellent. Beautiful views of water and great walking/jogging sidewalk. Staff very friendly. Food was good and reasonably priced.

Facility and rooms were dated. However it added to its ambience and charm. If you had mobility issues getting to most rooms might be an issue.

The cabin I had was even larger than I expected with a full kitchen. I had read some reviews that there could be quite a bit of noise coming from the pub and maybe it was because I visited in October, but even with windows open the there was no noise whatsoever. I also came without a car and was a little concerned about getting around but between the Gertie and Gabriella taxi I had no problem getting to where I wanted to go. If you have time in the morning, I highly recommend sitting on the rocks just across the street and watching all of the shorebirds. It's really a very beautiful spot.

Quaint little place, like in the movies :) rooms above the restaurant, designed very lodgy and comfortable. Location (right on the ocean, close to the ferry) is excellent. Plenty of parking. Comfortable bed. TV had Internet including Netflix (using my subscription) and the wifi was easy to connect to. Communication with the place was efficient - they sent all the details in an email prior to my arrival. Checking in and out was contactless and super easy.

It’s not ‘didn’t like’ exactly but some things to consider- The room I stayed in had a double bed and a single bed and they basically filled the room, it was very small. The ‘balcony’ that was in the room description turned out to be a public one, but the problem was my windows of my room turned into it- so if people chose to sit there they would have direct view onto my bed. I ended up needing to close the curtains for the length of my stay. No AC was available (but they did have a fan that I used because it ran quite hot in the room). Finally, rooms are not very noise isolated. I could hear the people next door talking. However, it wasn’t terribly loud and I slept great.

There was NO breakfast!

No electrical outlet in bathroom. Only small chairs at little table. No comfortable chairs. Repaired luggage holder was much too high to use comfortably. Fire escape/patio needed sweeping/cleaning.
