Hotel Skye San Francisco Airport SFO FREE SHUTTLE AND BREAKFAST!

I was pleasantly surprised; the location was great, there was ample parking, and the hotel was clean and smelled pleasant. The room was new and comfortable, with good space for luggage, a small closet, a mini-fridge, and a microwave that served us very well—we are a family of four and felt very comfortable. Breakfast was good; the dining area was a bit small, but it was the 4th of July holiday, so I imagine there was a much higher volume of guests than usual. Excellent value for money.

My husband and I were looking for an inexpensive overnight near SFO early April; no frills but clean as well as having a safe area to walk around and get a drink and a meal. This met our needs. Free shuttle service runs every 30 minutes. Easy check in. VERY clean and comfortable room. Safe, easy walk to friendly wine store, convenience store, and Mexican restaurant. Small area for breakfast but able to toast something, make a waffle, etc., and take it to your room. Very happy with our choice.

At check in I was asked for a passport. Since I had been traveling internationally, I had it with me, otherwise I would have only had my HI driver's license. I was concerned that ICE was putting pressure on hotels in the area. The next morning I asked if this was the new normal and was told no yet was asked if it was ICE that asked me for a passport (!). When I said it was the front desk person I was assured that the guy was new and was probably just being overly cautious. This was not so much a reflection on this hotel but on how ICE has managed to make just an overnight stay less than comfortable for the average hotel guest.

Close to the airport. Easy access. Ample parking. The room was clean and had been redone "somewhat recently". C phone outlets on the light fixture were great. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, it wasn't a bad place, but it didn't live up to what I expected based on reviews, ratings, and price. Booking.com rates it an 8.4, and I'm staying at an 8.6 in Redding which by comparison is a luxury hotel for a much lower price. However, I have stayed at much worse places. The bay area hotels are expensive, so this may not be a bad choice, depending on your expectations.

My main complaint was that the room had a VERY strong offensive odor. I'm sensitive to smells which made it difficult to sleep. I discovered in the morning that the windows opened and was able to let in some fresh air which helped, but too little too late. The breakfast was very basic. A tiny room with very few options. There was a waffle machine, which most people were using but which I don't eat, but otherwise toast, english muffins, some rubbery egg things, and packaged cereal. The coffee was in the lobby not in the breakfast area. There really wasn't a lobby--just the checkin desk. The only ice machine was on the first floor. The plug on the tub didn't work--I had to stuff it with a washcloth to get a bath.
