The accommodations were excellent. The food could have been better, not outstanding. For example the Breakfast was not as hot as it should have been.

Food was good but not outstanding to match the excellence of the property.

Beautiful historical building. Great facilities. 10 minute walk into town which was beautiful. Staff very pleasant. Room comfortable Easy parking. Had very relaxing time.

Thought process high when we had to pay separately for breakfast.

Stayed for a week: VERY lovely, pretty property; our room (2 queens w/ kitchenette) was great - clean, quiet, comfy, (always had hot water, but while we all found beds to be very comfy, we found the pillows too 'high' and had stiff necks), quite pretty decor and a nice view; GREAT amenities (though outdoor pool could have been a bit warmer and cleaned a bit better, but really such a lovely spot); close walk to town and the lovely Kingsbrae Gardens; shuttle offered was great and much appreciated; housekeep service was excellent, with the housekeep staff very approachable; really enjoyed music played in communal areas; much of the staff were either very friendly (Liam! Gizella! Yahia!) or pleasant and competent enough; our only real disappointment was to do with food service, noted below. ALL IN ALL would definitely recommend this very beautiful resort property, esp for those looking for a great place to unwind in a lovely, walkable town, right by the ocean -- ALGONQUIN RESORT IS A VERY SPECIAL PLACE!

Felt let down by the restaurants: though clean and and attractive, the menus were quite redundant -- NOT a lot of cross over b/w the different menus. Desserts were kind of non-existent for those that don't prefer bitter notes (with even high tea being odd we thought) and the sad fruit cobbler pieced together from the wet oatmeal and fruit salad offered during the breakfast buffet - tho churros under the kids menu, which we snuck in with our order, were yummy!) Lighter fare or offerings for those not eating red meat or not too thrilled with the cookery (often rubbery) of the seafood dishes seemed limited -- how about a little more chicken? maybe a turkey sandwich? a really nice veggie salad? And how were many of the seafood dishes not that good (rubbery)?! Or was it really just us? All told we found the food was hit and miss - some dishes were yummy (soups/ red meat offerings) others kind of really not that good (salads/seafood). And breakfast buffet was rather dull/mediocre for a nice resort (omletts were great tho!). ALSO, surprisingly, the food service was often a let down (bringing out wrong orders many times -- even being told on more than one occasion that our incorrect order(s) were what we had asked for!!?? Or having to ask for cutlery/ water to be brought to table after food was brought and wait staff walked away?) Though 1/2 of the servers were friendly, the rest still have to be taught that skill? Or maybe not hired in the 1st place? Would definitely benefit by having new professionals look at and rework the menus to appeal to broader tastes/provide more range, and aldo scrutinize staff a bit more to weed out the less pleasant folk. **FOOD IN TOWN WAS BETTER WE FELT** PS re: tuck shop: if you could stock some toiletries like toothbrushes/ cold remedies/ sanitary products, I bet guests would appreciate that, esp as the one drug store in town closes at 5:00.

I was out of my room for the entire day and when I returned the room had not been made up. I had to track down housekeeping staff to get the room made up. Additionally, on three separate occasions I had to track down staff to get served in the bar and on the veranda. For a hotel of this stature I would expect top notch service.
