Argyle By The Sea Bed & Breakfast

Beatrice made us a wonderful breakfast with generous slices of French Toast with real maple syrup or strawberry compote; eggs and very good ham. The coffee was strong (but not too strong) and hot! We had a wonderful conversation with George about the fishing industry in Nova Scotia. He was very enjoyable to talk to. We had the chance to talk with Beatrice upon our arrival -- which was also great. She made a dinner reservation at the Red Cap for us and we enjoyed our dinner there and the live music (Adria Owen!) very much. Our room was beautifully decorated and had lovely views out of several windows. The bed was very, very comfortable and my husband and I both slept so well. There is no tv and we see that as a point in the plus column!!! We were able to go out on the back deck to see the stars as they came out from the clouds. Amazing! And this morning when we woke up, the views out of our windows of the water were stunning.

My only complaint was our shower. It had very little water pressure and the pipe to the shower head was leaking. The shower itself was not cleaned well.

It is not the typical bed and breakfast that I have experienced. Lots of clutter, pretty small and tight dining room, no living room or place to sit other than your bedroom. Bedrooms are very close together so you hear other guests coughing and using the common bathroom. The shower in the king size room had very poor water pressure. It is dated and could use a refresh at least in the guest room. Bathroom ceiling paint is peeling, shower is old, things like that.

Very quiet oceanfront B&B. The host was extremely nice and attended to our every need. Wonderful conversation which revealed a possible family connection. That was a real bonus. We will definitely come again when we are in Novsa Scotia.
