Quick overnight after an event!

The location, the connection to the pub to eat late, the staff in the morning, the cleanliness overall!!

The staff at check in was rude and seemed unhappy to serve us. We thought we paid for a private bedroom, we got a bunkbed.

I keep coming back here because the rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen are typically spotless! That's important for a comfortable stay. The staff on this visit - John, Celia, and Nacio - were professional, welcoming, and accommodating. Also, the location is perfect. 4/5 minutes from Waterfront skytrain and service to YVR. Good value for the money in downtown Vancouver. Highly recommended.

One night, I had a room facing the street. The noise was incessant...so no sleep at all. Next night, I swapped, and it was fine. So if you're sensitive to noise.... Could probably offer a little more in terms of coffee / tea.

Location! Location! Location! Cheapest option in downtown Vancouver. Stripped down and basic but clean and comfortable and kind of charming. I would stay again.

I saw advertised that you received a 20% voucher for food and drink at their partner pub, however the offer is only valid between 11 am and 3 pm. Which is wild, I would never go to a pub during those hours. A bit misleading.

Great base for a quick layover

We only stayed one night, in transit to Toronto, but were really happy with The Cambie. Really convenient location, great facilities, safe building. Would happily recommend.

You get what you pay for :P Not horrible, just wished the accoms were cleaner

The location is good, accoms were fine. Rooms are safe & it's loud at night from the street/bar but I take comfort in the noise. Staff was cordial, bed was stiff but decent as someone with chronic joint pain.

Sheets were stained/dirty, floor was dirty. One single towel to dry your hands in the restroom — I'm sure it's sustainable but for a whole floor disposable towels or at least multiple hand towels would be better as it was frequently damp from other guests. Only one outlet in the room — couldn't have the fan on and charge two phones at the same time so sleeping was sweaty and miserable, would suggest outlet extenders at least for the private rooms.

Lovely, comfortable hostel close to Vancouver's Gast Town and Waterfront.

This was our first time staying in a hostel and we were so pleasantly surprised with our experience. The Cambie is situated only a short walk to Gas Town, Waterfront and transport. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The shared bathroom was clean. The room was very quiet despite a pub being attached to the building. There are restaurants and cafes close by. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Not the quiet of places…

Receptionist was very kind and helpful.

The room was situated directly above a bar operated by the same owners, and the music was so loud that the entire room vibrated. The only window overlooked the bins, and when the bar closed, the noise from cleaning, combined with the smell of rubbish, drifted into the room. Additionally, the staff member delivering towels knocked and then entered almost immediately without allowing time for a response. Most concerning of all, the fire detector in the room was missing.

A good option for a cheaper stay in Vancouver with very polite staff & great location.

The hostel was in a great neighbourhood and very easy to check-in. I chose a 2-bed female dorm room to save costs and only had a roommate on one evening. Bed was reasonably comfortable and I slept pretty well; it was not too loud in the hostel. I was only really inside when I needed to sleep so I can't comment much otherwise.

It looked as though the men's washroom had undergone a renovation recently, whereas the womens had not. The bathroom was fine overall, but given the old stalls and design, it will be much better when they renovate it to be aesthetically as nice as the men's. There was also quite a lot of women's hair left over on the top bunk bed from previous guests, so I chose the bottom bunk instead.

Yes I would stay here again, but I will definitely be considering a few things first

I liked the staff for sure, and the fact it is the upstairs to a bar/restaurant. The beds were also comfortable, and linens were clean.

1. No accessibility, and if you have extremely heavy luggage you have to haul it up at least one flight of stairs. 2. The storage they use for luggage is downstairs and extremely dingy, smelly and moldy. You are only allowed to use it for part of a day and then they charge you. 3. There isn't anything very interesting about it, just rooms and a bathroom (whereas most hostels I've stayed at at least had rec rooms, interesting art, things to do, etc.) 4. For what it is and what it offers I thought it was overpriced by about 20%. These are very specific things that affected my trip, I don't believe other travelers will be as nit picky as I was.

I saw a staff member throwing away in the kitchen sink a huge amount of dish soap just because it didn’t fit the detergent bottle in the sink he was refilling; such a waste and awful for the environment.

good location and value when other options are overpriced

The hostel's location is what makes it a good value. Unfortunately, for the dates we needed to be in Vancouver, the hotel prices were extremely high ($1000/ night-no exaggeration) so being able to book in this great location for such a good price was great. We had a private room for 2.

The ladies' bathroom on the 1st floor has been renovated and was very nicely done, considering it is shared by a number of people. The second floor bathroom is not nearly as nice. Each floor bathroom has accommodations for 2 toilet stalls and 2 showers and at no time did I have to wait for either. It seems like they clean pretty regularly so I never felt like anything was dirty. The hostel is old and the age is evident everywhere, but the cleanliness supersedes any concerns about the building age.

Great stop for a quick stay in Vancouver

We stayed here once night before getting on am Alaska cruise ship. Didn't need and special features, just a clean place to stay. The Seymour delivered. The rooms was clean, staff was kind, price was affordable, and location was exactly where we needed to be (walking distance from the cruise dock).

Shared bathroom was clean. No line for the toilet or shower.

Appreciate the housekeeping staffs working extremely hard to keep every corner tidy and clean. And they greet and smile amid the hectic chores. Location within walking distance to amenities.

Most of the front desk staffs' service standard leaves much to be desired. Efficiency of heating system in the room totally not present. Should have proper locker in the room instead of cages. Cages are for catching mice. Electrical outlet at the wall opposite the bed. Surprisingly the "noise" from the pub had not been an issue even though I was on the first floor. It started to get annoying when the inconsiderate hippos moved in.

Exceptional location, easy access to transit and a short distance from many attractions. Friendly, charismatic, and supportive staff present 24 hrs to assist with issues. All around high quality experience.

It's a hostel, so expect hostel-like facilities. The room felt wet, and needed an open window and fan for clothes a d towels to dry/not feel damp after hanging. The WiFi resets frequently, requiring re-entry of credentials. One night, external noise was excessive and bass vibrations rattled my bunk.

Central welcoming hostel

Very central hostel with only 2 beds dormitories. John at the reception was very helpful, as I had an heavy bag. He chose for me a room with no noise as there was an event in the pub downstairs. The pub is also welcoming. Easy transit and close walk along the sea and Canada place. It is not luxiurious, but the price is good for a night stay in downtown Vancouver.

Great location, clean and dry facility, friendly staff. You can leave your luggage with them for a few hours after you leave the room. The kitchen/lounge has a lot of light and is a nice spot for mingling.

Of the two bathrooms, one had very old showers that drained very poorly. The other was great, though.

The location and price are great. Easy access to the city and transports. Commodities are good and great many food stalls nearby. Staffs at the reception are friendly and helpful. The kitchen is clean and has a decent supply of cutleries.

Bar below is loud and I didn't like the heavy smell of alcohol going in and out. Hope they had separate entrances. The wash basin is too small in the bathroom and as a result pool of water around with use by multiple people many times. I didn't like the cleaning staff making fun of residents leaving the bathroom wet as it's virtually impossible if you want to freshen up properly with that small wash basin. Only two power outlets in the room and as you more often than not will use an adapter, impossible to use by two people simultaneously. I stayed in the double-shared female room.
