    My first hostel experience and I am glad I chose Samesun Vancouver as recommended by a friend. I was skeptic at first as I read about the surroundings. However, it is pretty much safer even at night, Granville street really became alive., although the smell of marijuana lingers in the air. The hostel itself is solid with the bathroom amenities, breakfast included and sleeping bunk. I was lucky to have bunkmates that are quiet enough and respectful. Definitely will be staying here if I come back for another visit. The only con is that the pillow was too soft thus my 1st night, twas hard to sleep and got a stiff neck. I requested for an exchange but still the same soft pillow, however the staff said to keep it for the duration of my stay. It alleviate my quality of sleeping. Thank you Agne and the rest of Samesun Vancouver staff, all of guys were awesome.

    The location was ideal and definitely one of the best things about staying at Samesun. The breakfast was decent, it was enough to fill you up and start the day. The toilets and showers were clean, which I appreciated. However, one major downside is that there is absolutely no elevator anywhere in the hotel. If you have heavy luggage, be prepared to carry everything up and down the stairs, which can be really inconvenient. Unfortunately, the biggest negative for me was the reception staff. The ladies at reception consistently came across as unfriendly and unapproachable. They often looked annoyed, as though they were being forced to be there and the overall attitude did not feel welcoming at all. For a place where reception is the first point of contact with guests, this really affected the experience. Overall, the location, cleanliness and basic breakfast were good, but the lack of an elevator and especially the unpleasant attitude at reception brought the stay down considerably.
