About this cottage rental
This former fisherman's cottage sits 60 metres from the harbour beach on a quiet cobbled street in Mousehole, a picturesque fishing village in west Cornwall known for its pretty harbour and traditional character. Ideal for couples and families looking for an unhurried coastal village holiday, the cottage is perfectly placed among the art galleries and independent shops that line the cobbled lanes. The harbour beach opens up at low tide for a full day on the sand, and the harbour wall is a fine spot for a picnic, watching the fishing boats bobbing on the horizon. Mousehole's narrow streets are lined with yellow-lichened fishermen's houses that cluster together around the harbour, creating a distinctive and atmospheric setting that has long drawn visitors to this corner of Cornwall. The neighbouring fishing village of Newlyn is 2 miles along the coast, with its own harbour and places to eat.
Arranged over two floors, the ground floor opens into an open-plan kitchen and dining area with a wood burner, a large wooden table, and comfortable seating for five. On the ground floor, the twin bedroom includes a truckle bed for a fifth guest, triple wardrobes, and coastal artwork, with a separate shower room alongside featuring a shower, heated towel rail, and WC. A spiral staircase with a glassed wall connects the two floors, leading up to the first-floor living room – a spacious room with a large corner sofa, two wicker chairs, a marble-top coffee table, a Smart TV, and a bay window with built-in seating. Beyond the living room, the king-size master bedroom has bedside tables and lamps, a triple wardrobe, chest of drawers, a stylish armchair, and a floor-length mirror. A family shower room completes the first floor, with a walk-in rainfall shower, heated towel rail, and WC.
The private courtyard is accessed from the kitchen up several steps and has a wooden table with seating for six and a BBQ for al fresco dining. A back door from the kitchen leads out to the space, which is filled with flowers and plants and is often a suntrap. There are narrow cobbled streets surrounding the cottage. A covered porch at the front of the cottage provides space for storing wetsuits, surfboards, and bicycles. No private parking is available; public car parks are located near the harbour.
