About this house rental

OLD WINEMAKER’S HOUSE — A FAMILY HOME IN STUPAVA

Some homes have a story long before you arrive. Ours begins with our grandparents, Leopold and Anna.

Welcome to our bright and spacious two-bedroom apartment, set on the second floor of our family’s lovingly renovated winemaker’s house in Stupava. Here, at the foot of the Little Carpathian Mountains and a short drive from Bratislava, you can enjoy countryside walks, discover local history, and return to a place with a story of its own.

With a private entrance, a fully equipped kitchen, a garage for up to two cars, and an EV charger, the apartment offers a comfortable base for families, couples, friends, and longer stays.

A HOME WITH ROOTS

Leopold and Anna were farmers, winemakers, and skilled craftspeople who worked with horses. Their lives followed the seasons: caring for the land, tending the vines, and turning the grape harvest into wine. This house stood at the heart of it all, shaped by their work and the family life they built here.

During the 20th century, their wines earned multiple awards and recognition at wine competitions. Original winemaking equipment and competition certificates remain in the basement. For our family, these are precious reminders of their patience, skill, and pride in making something worth sharing.

Behind the house, a small vineyard still bears seasonal grapes. Its harvest is modest today, but keeping it alive means a great deal to us. Each growing season connects us to our grandparents and the traditions that made this place home.

When we renovated the property, we wanted to preserve that connection while making it comfortable for a new generation of guests.

To carry Leopold and Anna’s hospitality forward, a complimentary bottle of wine will be waiting when you arrive. Settle in, pour a glass, and make yourself at home.

SPACE TO SETTLE IN

The apartment has two separate bedrooms, a spacious central living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom. There is room to spend time together and space to enjoy a quiet moment of your own.

• Bedroom 1 has two large beds and a baby crib.
• Bedroom 2 has one large bed, with an additional single bed available when required.
• The living room has a comfortable sofa, coffee table, and built-in storage.
• The kitchen includes an oven, stovetop, microwave, refrigerator with freezer, electric kettle, and dining table.
• The bathroom includes a shower, sink, toilet, and washing machine.

Whether you’re preparing breakfast before a hike, sharing dinner after sightseeing, or catching up on laundry during a longer trip, the apartment makes everyday life easy.

YOUR OWN PRIVATE APARTMENT

The entire second-floor apartment is exclusively yours during your stay. It occupies part of our family house and has its own entrance, reached by an outdoor spiral staircase from the private parking area.

At the entrance, a small balcony-style seating area offers a pleasant spot for morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.

Please note that access is by stairs only. The spiral staircase may be unsuitable for guests with limited mobility and requires extra care with young children or heavy luggage.

PRIVATE GARAGE & EV CHARGING

Guests have access to a private garage with space for up to two cars. An EV charger is also available, making the apartment convenient for guests exploring Slovakia by electric vehicle.

The garage and parking area are just a few steps from the foot of the entrance staircase.

THE PLEASURES OF STUPAVA

Stupava is a small town on the outskirts of Bratislava, with agricultural roots, local cafés and restaurants, and the wooded slopes of the Little Carpathians close by.

You can spend the morning exploring, stop for an ice cream, and leave the afternoon open for whatever takes your fancy. It’s a place to enjoy a slower pace while keeping the city within easy reach.

Kaštieľsky Park
Take a gentle stroll through Stupava’s historic manor park, where mature trees, shaded paths, and a picturesque pond create a lovely setting for a quiet afternoon.

Saturday Morning Market
Visit the local Saturday market at Sedliacky dvor and around the town’s cultural and information centre, MKIC. Browse the stalls for seasonal produce and local goods, and enjoy a glimpse of everyday life in Stupava. Market arrangements may vary, so check the current location during your stay.

Restaurants, Coffee & Ice Cream
For a meal in town, local options include IL Galeone and Reštaurácia Milica. Gelato Special on Hlavná Street is a tempting stop for ice cream, coffee, or dessert. Beer lovers can also discover locally brewed Stupavar beer.

FOREST WALKS, CASTLE RUINS & COUNTRY DAYS

Pajštún Castle
A hike to the ruins of Pajštún Castle is a rewarding way to experience the Little Carpathians. Forest paths lead uphill to the castle, where views open across the surrounding countryside.

Set out on a longer walk from Stupava, or drive to nearby Borinka for a shorter approach. This is a forest hike with an uphill climb, so bring comfortable walking shoes and water.

Biofarma Príroda
Just outside Stupava, Biofarma Príroda offers a countryside outing with sheep, a rural setting, and a traditional koliba restaurant. It’s an inviting choice for a family afternoon or a leisurely lunch. A marked educational walking route also connects central Stupava with the farm.

Marianka & the Holy Well
Nearby Marianka is a historic pilgrimage destination in a wooded valley. Explore the basilica, follow the paths past devotional chapels, and visit the Chapel of the Holy Well. Whether you come for faith, history, or a peaceful walk, it’s a special place to pause.

Walking & Cycling
The surrounding foothills and countryside offer plenty of opportunities to get outdoors. Choose a gentle outing between nearby villages or a longer adventure along the forest trails of the Little Carpathians.

BRATISLAVA & DEVÍN

Bratislava Old Town
Spend a day wandering through Bratislava’s historic streets and squares. Discover Michael’s Gate and St. Martin’s Cathedral, walk up to Bratislava Castle, or settle into a café before strolling beside the Danube.

The Old Town can be around 20–30 minutes away by car in light traffic. Allow extra time during busy periods and for parking.

Devín Castle
For another memorable excursion, visit Devín Castle, whose ruins rise above the meeting of the Danube and Morava rivers. Explore the historic site, enjoy the views, and take a walk along the river below. It’s an easy day trip by car from Stupava.

More Places to Explore
Nature lovers can also visit the Sandberg area or hike to the lookout tower on Devínska Kobyla for another perspective on the landscape around Bratislava.

EVERYDAY CONVENIENCE

Bory Mall and Bory Hospital are approximately 10–15 minutes away by car, depending on traffic. The shopping centre offers shops, restaurants, cafés, and everyday services.

Convenient highway access makes the apartment a practical base for exploring western Slovakia, visiting Bratislava, or taking a comfortable break during a longer journey. All driving times are approximate and depend on traffic and your destination.

MAKE A LITTLE HISTORY OF YOUR OWN

For our grandparents, this house was part of everyday life: work, family, the changing seasons, and wine made with care. For you, we hope it becomes the setting for a few happy memories of your own.

A slow breakfast before heading out. An afternoon in the forest. A meal shared around the table. A quiet glass of wine at the end of the day.

When you pour that first glass, perhaps raise it to Leopold and Anna—to the hands that tended these vines and the lives that made this house a home.

We’re happy its next chapter includes you.
