La Roque: hilltop domaine with heated pool and 15 acres, near Montcuq

La Roque is our family home: three old stone houses at the top of a quiet hamlet in the Lot, with 15 acres of meadow and woodland and a heated pool looking across the valley. It sleeps 8 in four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, spread so that two families or three generations can be together without being on top of each other.
The main house has the beamed living and dining room, a big kitchen, a sitting room with a stone fireplace and wood burner, and the pool table. There are two large double bedrooms, each en suite (the principal with bath and shower), with a curtained alcove holding a further double between them.
Across the grounds, the maison d'amis is a self-contained cottage: a bedroom with two singles that make up as a double, its own shower room, and a sitting area that takes extra beds with a separate shower room. The studio is a light-filled room with a double bed and its own shower room, opening onto the terrace.
Outside, days run between the heated pool and pool house, the long table on the terrace and the outdoor kitchen built into the rock, with its pizza oven and grill. There is table tennis, an astro pitch for football, a hammock under the oaks, a yoga deck in the woods and a firepit on the hill above the house for evenings looking over the valley. Walks start from the door.
Montcuq, medieval Lauzerte and Montaigu-de-Quercy are minutes away, each with its own morning market. Cahors is 30 to 40 minutes; Toulouse airport about an hour and a half, and Bordeaux two hours.
Please note: there are many stone steps around the property, so young children need close supervision. A rarely used footpath crosses the land.
