About this cottage rental
Perfect for large families or groups of friends, this superb, dog-friendly, house is set in a tranquil location on the outskirts of East Linton, where you’ll find shops (including an award-winning butcher) and places to eat and drink. Visit the Garden Centre in Dunbar or East Fortune (both 6 miles) where you can refuel at the cafe and pick up local produce to take home. The long, sandy beach at Tyninghame is less than 4 miles away, perfect for long walks or paddling. There are more beaches in North Berwick (6.5 miles), a picturesque harbour town where there are also two world-renowned golf courses. Visit the Scottish Seabird Centre and take a boat trip to spot seals, dolphins and the world’s largest colony of gannets, or hike up North Berwick Law and enjoy incredible views from the summit. Aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to the National Museum of flight (6 miles). Or a day trip to Edinburgh is just 23.5 miles by car or 20 minutes on the train from East Linton station.
Thoughtfully designed for both style and comfort, the spacious stone house is set over two storeys, with some internal steps. From the vestibule, stroll through the hall and into the light-filled, open-plan living space, where everyone can gather for cooking, dining and relaxing – perhaps firing up the wood burner for glowing warmth on cooler evenings. The sleek kitchen boasts an array of appliances, including a microwave and a dishwasher, and the elegant dining table comfortably accommodates eight people. As an added bonus, you can even chill bottles and cans in the retro-style drinks fridge to accompany your meals. Afterwards, sink into one of the sofas for some well-deserved down time, or head to the separate lounge, where there’s more soft seating and a Smart TV, ideal for cartoons, a family film or a favourite box set. Anyone with extra energy might want to make their way to the games room, where the multi-games table offers pool, table tennis and air hockey. Also on the ground floor is a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower, a family bathroom and a utility with laundry facilities. On the first floor, three further bedrooms sit under the high, steeply sloping ceilings of the roof, including a fabulous double room with an en-suite shower and a lounge area. Completing this high-quality accommodation is a family shower room.
The outside space is equally impressive. To the front, the enclosed patio has comfortable furniture and a dining set for meals in the sunshine. A large, private hot tub for eight guests sits within a sheltered area of the garden, with the house to one side and an established hedge to the other, to shelter from any breeze. Soak sore muscles after long walks and days in the fresh air, whatever the weather. The back garden, which is also enclosed, has another seating area and a dog kennel. Using the enclosed drive, off-road parking for four cars is available, with additional parking on the street nearby.
