Swell sits directly on the sand at Bang Por, a quiet, unhurried stretch of Koh Samui's north coast. From the front door to the water is seventeen steps.

Both bedrooms face the sea and each has a private ensuite, so two couples or a young family settle in easily. The living room and kitchen open straight onto the terrace and the beach beyond, and the sala, with its deep bean bags, is where most afternoons end up. The kitchen is set up for proper cooking, though the beach cafe next door does a very good breakfast.

Mornings are best for swimming, when the sea is calm and clear. The shallow water out front is easy for little ones, and the paddleboards are yours to borrow. At golden hour, take a drink out to the sala and watch the sun set over Ang Thong Marine Park.

Every detail is taken care of: electricity included with no metered bill at the end, beach towels, fast WiFi, a baby crib and playpen on request, and parking at the door. Check-in is private and self-guided, so you can arrive whenever suits you.

We live on the island and hold the villa’s food and alcohol licences, so a private chef can cook for you here properly rather than unofficially. We’re also happy to arrange airport transfers, a massage on the beach, a boat day or a nanny. Otherwise, we’ll leave you to it.
