You’ll find a spotlessly clean apartment equipped with sheets, bedding, pillows, toilet paper, soap, and towels. If you’re staying long-term, there’s a complimentary cleaning once a month, which includes changing the towels and sheets. Right now, I don’t have a full-time housekeeper, so if you’d like additional cleanings, you’ll need to let me know in advance so I can schedule an appointment with the cleaner. A full cleaning of the apartment costs 350 pesos and includes a change of sheets and towels. There is a laundromat located about a 5-minute walk away
Chedrahui is about an 8-minute walk away, where you can buy all your daily necessities. There is a water dispenser a 2-minute walk from the apartment where you can refill your water bottle; we can also call a delivery person to bring water directly to your apartment.
The apartment is a turnkey rental. You are responsible for your own supplies. You’ll receive a starter kit, but once it runs out, you’ll need to purchase your own supplies. There’s a grocery store (OXXO) just a two-minute walk from the apartment, and a Chedrahui store—the Mexican equivalent of Walmart—which is an 8-minute walk away. This is a self-catering apartment, meaning we do not offer daily cleaning; there is no one who can provide you with more toilet paper or restock your supplies daily. You have a starter kit, but once it runs out, you are responsible for your own supplies. There is an OXXO that is open 24/7 about two blocks from the apartment.
The neighborhood is quiet for a central tourist area in a Mexican city, especially at night. It’s a typical Mexican residential neighborhood. There are restaurants just a couple of minutes away, and the historic center is very close
The neighborhood is close to the city’s main square and all attractions. It is a residential neighborhood, although there are several buildings catering to tourists and foreigners.
It is still part of the city center, so it is subject to the same building restrictions as the tourist area. As a result, you’ll see mostly old, Mexican-style houses—not Spanish-style buildings like those in the tourist area. Our building is the tallest in the neighborhood, so the view from the top is amazing.
It’s a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the tourist area. As a result, the neighborhood is considered quiet (by Mexican standards) for the center of a Mexican city—no tourist noise, no bars, very few cars crossing the street, and no cars at all at night. The building is located at the back of the house and has an additional security wall.
However, remember that you’re in Mexico, so you might hear noises you wouldn’t normally hear in your own country—such as vendors walking down the street selling tamales, or the gas delivery truck playing a noisy jingle as it drives by—but these are sounds you’ll hear all over Oaxaca. A dog in the neighborhood might bark, as they do all over Oaxaca; some people even keep dogs on their rooftops. These kinds of noises are normal to us but might be unusual for tourists, although you’ll hear them everywhere you go in Oaxaca.
