Barton has a lovely village green, a stream winding its way through the village, a pub, a shop and a Post Office. The Piercebridge Roman Fort Site, a recognised ancient monument, forms part of the region’s Dere Street Roman Trail, a celebration of the rich Roman heritage still to be enjoyed in the area.
