Stone house in the hills of the Livradois

Built from local stone and wood, this charming house is nestled 680 meters up in the hills of Livradois Forez. Its thick walls keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter. Here you’ll find a place designed to help you slow down, with a wood-burning fire, a garden to explore, and plenty of quiet nooks.



The interior retains many original features and is simply furnished with treasures found at local flea markets. On cool or rainy days, the wood-burning stove becomes the heart of the home. Settle in with a good book and let yourself be lulled by the crackling flames.



The organic garden surrounds the house on all sides, with sunny spots and shady nooks. A small vegetable garden and several fruit trees round out the setting. You’re welcome to stroll through the garden and pick whatever’s ripe—fruit, fresh vegetables, or herbs for dinner.



The house is surrounded by forests of pine, chestnut, and beech trees, perfect for long hikes and mushroom hunting. About a twenty-minute drive away is a lake with a lakeside café. La Chaise-Dieu is home to a renowned cathedral and a bookstore with a café and wine bar.
