About this house rental

Puako sits on a quiet stretch of the Kohala Coast where lava rock meets clear water and a living reef runs close to shore. Island Time Retreat holds a rare position on that shoreline: an oceanfront home with a sandy path beside the house that drops straight into the water, so the snorkeling and the tide pools begin where the lawn ends.

What You'll Love
• A sandy path beside the house into the ocean, with the reef and tide pools a short swim out
• A private hot tub on the lawn above the water, the coastline running past the rail
• Sliding glass walls that open the great room & Primary bedroom fully to the oceanfront lanai
• Sleeps 10 across five bedrooms in a pod-style layout of separate structures
• Sunsets off the west-facing lanai most evenings

Living & Dining
The main residence opens as one great room, with a living area, a dining table, and a media room gathered under a vaulted, open-beam ceiling. Sliding glass doors run the length of the ocean side and stack, so the lanai, the lawn, and the water read as one continuous room. When the doors are open the whole coast becomes the view from the sofa.

The Kitchen
The kitchen sits open to it all, wood cabinetry and a full gas range along the wall, with an island that seats several and keeps the cook in the conversation. Stainless appliances and real counter space make it a working kitchen, whether that means dinner for ten or coffee before the first swim.

Oceanfront Living
Outside, a covered lanai runs along the ocean side with lounge seating and a table set for open-air dinners, the BBQ at one end and the lawn falling away toward the seawall. A private hot tub sits out on the grass above the water, close enough that the sound of the surf carries up while you soak. Below it, a sandy access path slips beside the house and into the ocean, protected by the seawall, where the reef pulls in snorkelers and green sea turtles feed along the shallows on calm days. An outdoor shower off the lawn rinses the salt before you head back in.

Sleeping Quarters
The bedrooms spread across the property's separate structures, so the group gets real distance from one another.
• Primary suite, in its own structure: California king, ensuite bath, private entrance, ocean views, and direct access to the oceanfront lanai
• Guest bedroom, main home: California king, ensuite bath, blackout drapes
• Guest bedroom, main home: California king, ensuite bath, blackout drapes
• Detached ohana: queen bed, sharing the ohana's full bath
• Detached ohana: second queen bed, open to the first over a partial pony wall and sharing that bath
Every room has a ceiling fan and split A/C. The two ohana rooms are an open arrangement, best for children or for families comfortable sharing the space.

Nearby
Puako is a small residential community you can walk end to end, all reef access points and quiet lanes rather than resort bustle. Hapuna Beach and the white sand of Beach 69 sit a short drive up the coast, and both the Mauna Lani and Mauna Kea resorts, with their championship golf and dining, are under ten minutes away. This is one of the sunniest, driest stretches in the islands. Kona International Airport (KOA) is the arrival point for the coast.

Good to Know
• The two ohana bedrooms share a bathroom and are divided by a partial pony wall rather than a full one, so that structure suits a family comfortably with an open layout.
• Every room has its own split A/C and ceiling fan.
• The home is oceanfront behind a seawall, with a rock-and-reef shoreline and a sandy entry path; the snorkeling is excellent and young children warrant the usual care near the water.
• TAT ID: TA-084-476-5184-01
• TMK / Parcel ID: 690040100000
• Permit ID: STVR-19-368541

Beside the house, a sandy path slips between the seawall and the reef and drops straight into the water, where the snorkeling starts a few strokes out. The reef out front is the first swim, every time.
