About this cottage rental
Retreat to the Cornish countryside with a stay at this quirky traditional cottage, set close to the village of Rilla Mill and just 7 miles from the market town of Liskeard. Sleeping six guests across three bedrooms, it’s the perfect base for families and groups of friends planning days of coast and country adventure together. Enjoy long rural walks from the doorstep and, on your return, stop by Rilla Mill (0.5 miles), where you’ll find a welcoming pub serving local ales and home-cooked meals. For more scenic walking, the dramatic landscapes of Bodmin Moor begin within 1.5 miles of the cottage. Liskeard offers plenty of shops and places to eat and drink, while other popular towns nearby include Callington and Launceston (both within 9.5 miles). This property is centrally located within Cornwall, making both coasts within easy reach. Head North and visit Padstow to enjoy fish and chips at Rick Steins, Port Isaac famous for the filming of Doc Martin and Tintagel, world famous for ties to the legend of King Arthur, medieval ruins and dramatic cliffs. On the south coast you'll find fishing town Looe, recently the film location for Beyond Paradise, the pretty harbour town of Polperro and vibrant Fowey.
Step through the cottage’s original door and into the welcoming lounge. Here, exposed beams, slate floors, low ceilings and an original bread oven reveal the property’s age and character. Sink into the comfortable seating to rest weary walking muscles, then flick through the Smart TV and bask in the glow of the wood burner during the chillier months. Head through the narrow doorway and down two stone steps into the dining room, a welcoming space that comfortably accommodates six diners. When it’s time to eat, head through to the stylish kitchen, where you’ll find everything needed to cook up Cornish feasts, along with a handy utility area and additional storage space. From here, steep cottage stairs lead to the first-floor landing, where there is a bathroom with a shower over the bath, three restful bedrooms, and a quiet reading nook up two further stairs. Choose from two double bedrooms, and a twin room. All bedrooms benefit from enjoying lovely views over the garden.
Outside, you’ll find a choice of inviting spaces in which to relax and make the most of this wonderfully quiet location. To the front, bistro-style seating catches the sun and provides the perfect spot for a peaceful morning coffee while enjoying the tranquillity of the surroundings. To the rear, a large enclosed garden is laid to lawn and offers plenty of space for small children to play safely and for dogs to stretch their legs. Ideal for lazy afternoons and al fresco evenings together, it also features a furnished patio for outdoor dining and relaxing in the fresh Cornish air. There is one private parking space outside the property, with additional roadside parking available, making it easy to come and go on your Cornish adventures.
