About this house rental

Step inside The Jewel, a characterful three-bedroom townhouse set within one of Bury St Edmunds’ most distinctive historic properties. Located on Kings Road, this Grade II listed Victorian building dates back to 1857, when it was originally constructed as military barracks for the West Suffolk Militia/Regiment. Thoughtfully converted from its original military use into residential townhouses, The Jewel offers a wonderful historical stay. The property retains many of the architectural details that make this former barracks so special, including its dark red brickwork, traditional windows and distinctive mid-19th-century character.

The property features a bright living room, providing a comfortable space to relax after a day exploring the area. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need for a self-catering stay. There is also a downstairs WC, with the washing machine conveniently located within this space.

The accommodation provides three bedrooms, making it an excellent choice for families, couples or friends travelling together. The main bedroom has a king-sized bed, the second with a double, while the third is furnished with bunk beds, offering a flexible sleeping arrangement for children or additional guests. The property has a well-equipped bathroom with a WC, shower and bathtub.

A garden is also available for guests to enjoy, providing an additional outdoor space to enjoy a morning coffee or unwind at the end of the day. The garden also includes a furnished summerhouse where guests can relax.

The Jewel is situated in Bury St Edmunds, a historic market town in West Suffolk renowned for its beautiful architecture, independent shops, cafés, restaurants and rich heritage. Guests can explore the town on foot, with attractions including the historic Abbey Gardens, the remains of Bury St Edmunds Abbey, St Edmundsbury Cathedral and the Theatre Royal. The town also provides an excellent base for exploring the wider Suffolk countryside, with picturesque villages, walking routes and charming market towns all within easy reach.

Suffolk offers plenty to discover beyond Bury St Edmunds. The beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast, including Aldeburgh, Southwold and Dunwich, is ideal for coastal walks, beaches and seaside days out, while the historic town of Lavenham is famous for its timber-framed medieval buildings. Nature lovers can explore RSPB Minsmere and the Suffolk Coast & Heaths, while those looking for culture and history can visit Ickworth House or Sutton Hoo. With Cambridge and the wider East Anglian countryside also within reach, The Jewel makes an ideal base for discovering the many attractions of the region.
