About this resort

Wake up to the Caribbean, 30 minutes and a world away from Cancún's Hotel Zone.

Book this Jr. Suite and you get two five-star resorts, not one.

Your key opens Garza Blanca and its sister property Villa del Palmar next door — both beaches, all nine pools, the tennis courts, the splash pads, and Villa del Palmar's nightly show program. Most guests here never realize the second resort is included. You will.

What makes this one different

Two resorts on one stay. Nine pools between them, two beaches, tennis, and a full nightly show calendar — Cuban night, Mexican folklore, circus, casino night, karaoke, movies on the sand. One walk down the beach.

The suite

This is a private Jr. Suite suite inside Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Cancún — a five-star beachfront resort on Playa Mujeres, north of the city. You get the resort in full: the pools, the beach, the gym, the daily activities, the beach club.

Floor-to-ceiling glass opens onto a private balcony with a hammock and an ocean view. Inside: a king bed (or two queens) on TAFER's signature mattress and linens, a workspace with an illuminated mirror, a smart TV, air conditioning and a ceiling fan.

The bathroom is the reason people book this room. A double vanity under a backlit mirror, a marble walk-in rain shower, robes and slippers — and a freestanding sculpted soaking tub set against a botanical mosaic wall, open to the bedroom behind a carved screen. It is genuinely beautiful, and it is genuinely not private. Worth knowing if you're sharing with someone who isn't your partner.

Also inside: a stocked minibar, an espresso machine and coffee service, an in-room safe, and a closet with hangers and an iron. There is no kitchen in this suite — see the dining note below.

The resort

- Four pools, including a main infinity pool with a swim-up bar and a shallow lounge pool with hammocks suspended over the water

- An adults-only rooftop infinity pool with a full ocean horizon, cocktails and gourmet bites served poolside

- White-sand beach shared with sister resort Villa del Palmar, raked daily, with loungers, palapas and towel service

- A floating Wibit aqua park anchored offshore — inflatable climbing walls, jumps and runways, free to guests

- Spa Imagine, the largest spa in the group at 16 cabins; every treatment includes a guided hydrotherapy circuit — sauna, steam, cold plunge, six-cycle vitality pool

- Four gourmet restaurants (Mexican, Japanese robata, a Wine Spectator–awarded steakhouse, and rooftop Chinese) plus a five-kitchen food hall, a beach food truck and 24-hour room service

- Gym (16+), kids' club for ages 4–12, paddleboards, kayaks, snorkeling, yoga, beach volleyball

- Full access to Villa del Palmar next door — its pools, splash pads, tennis courts and its nightly show program: Cuban Night, Mexican folklore, circus, casino night, karaoke, and movies on the sand

About dining

The resort's Gourmet Culinary All-Inclusive plan is bought separately, direct from the resort, and covers unlimited dining and premium bar at both properties plus tips and taxes. Because this studio has no kitchen, I'd strongly recommend it.

Message, I'll get you the current per-person rate and put you in touch with the resort — there's a three-night minimum. Without it, you're welcome to head into Cancún to eat.

Getting here

Cancún International Airport is about 25 km / 30 minutes. Pre-book a private transfer — Uber can't pick up at the airport. The resort is gated with 24-hour security and is cashless, so bring a card.

What's nearby

The ferry to Isla Mujeres is minutes away. So are the El Meco Maya ruins, and a marina. From June to September the whale sharks gather just north of here — you're closer to the boats than almost any hotel in Cancún. Chichén and the Xcaret parks are all day trips.
