History of home:
28 Grover Lane sits on 17 acres, part of a 60 acre parcel north of the stonewall along Cleveland Hill Road. Grover Cleveland and his wife, Francis Folsom Cleveland, bought two farms on what became known as Cleveland Hill in 1905. President Cleveland and Francis Cleveland were introduced to Tamworth by John Finley, one of their close friends from New York, who was married to a woman from Tamworth.

In January 1904, Ruth, the oldest daughter of Grover and Francis Cleveland, died of diphtheria. Prior to her death, the family had owned a summer house on Cape Cod. Ruth’s death cast a palll on that property and the Cleveland‘s subsequently bought a farm from Francis Remick in 1905 as well as an adjacent property.

When my grandfather, Richard Folsom Cleveland, died in 1974, my father inherited the 60 acres north of the Grover Cleveland Memorial wall on Cleveland Hill. In 1994 he built a house on the property designed by Charles Meyer as a modern open plan cape.

The original 60 acre property is still owned by my brother, myself, and our two sisters.
