About this cabin rental
There's a reason they named it the Sugar Shack — this open-loft log cabin at Haliburton Forest has that warm, tucked-in character that makes you want to stay an extra night. Pet-friendly and perfect for families with older kids or groups of 4+, it's the cozier companion to the larger Boiler Room.
Six single beds are in the open loft above a spacious living area heated by a wood stove — firewood supplied. The full kitchen is set up for proper cooking: stove and oven, full-sized fridge, coffeemaker, kettle, and all cookware and dishes. One bathroom and a dining area complete the layout.
Facecloths, towels, hand soap and dish soap are provided.
Important note: sheets, pillows, and blankets are not supplied — pack your own sleeping bags and bedding.
In addition to be environmentally conscious the units are not supplied with any single use products. Please bring your own coffee (we have filters for the machine), tea, spices, shampoo, conditioner and soap for the shower.
Pets are genuinely welcome.
The open-loft layout is ideal for families — parents can keep an ear out while everyone has space. It also works brilliantly for a group of friends who want that camp-together, cook-together feeling without roughing it too hard.
You're right at Base Camp, steps from the Camp Store, gas, the Boshkung Smokehouse, and the Wolf Centre — one of the most remarkable wildlife encounters in all of Ontario cottage country. Over 400 km of trails and gravel roads for hiking, biking and trail running start here, and grant you access to 100 lakes for fishing, swimming and paddling!
Cook smores over a fire at one of our communal firepits, enjoy an outdoor game from our games shed and be sure to test your skills finding our hidden Geocaches!
When planning your trip be sure to book our guided experiences ahead of time: Canopy Tour, Clay Target Shooting, Ice Fishing, Fly Fishing, Tin Boat Fishing and/or one of our many exceptional experiences through Yours Outdoors and the Wolf Centre: Dinner With Wolves, Guided Fishing, Glassblowing, etc.
Don't have your own gear? We rent canoes, bikes, snowshoes AND snowmobiles!
