About this villa rental
The Castle is still a well-loved home to the Kerr family and is therefore a warm and cosy place to stay. A romantic and historic building very well equipped to cater for all modern day comforts. The Great Hall is the social centre of Ferniehirst, with a large ornate fireplace as the main feature. We also have two kitchens, three further reception rooms. There are nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms, across the main Castle and adjoining Lothian Wing. We also have a tennis court.
We are in a rural area, so suggest you have a car for your stay. It is not necessary and there are taxis, but we think you will have a nicer stay if you do have a car.
The Location
Affectionately known as ‘Scotland’s frontier fortress’, Ferniehirst Castle is possibly the best-preserved of a distinctive group of highly prestigious mansions erected by wealthy Border lairds during the closing decades of the 16th Century. Two miles north of Ferniehirst is the colourful and historical town of Jedburgh.
