Aurich holiday home: garden, sunroom, fireplace

The house sits in the middle of Aurich, yet in the garden you hear nothing of the town. A 1,000 sqm plot, old trees, dense hedges all around. Nobody can see in, whether you are having breakfast on the covered terrace or lying in the sun in the evening.

**Sunroom and fireplace**

The living room opens into a sunroom with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the garden. In summer you are practically outside, in winter you sit in the warm and look out. There is a working fireplace, with an initial supply of firewood provided. If you want to keep the fire going, firewood is easy to buy locally. The house works in November, not just in July.

**Built for longer stays**

The house is furnished with teak, not with rental-standard furniture. There is a large collection of board games and a full bookshelf. If you are staying two weeks to explore East Frisia properly, this is a base you will not want to leave every evening.

**The rooms**

120 sqm across two floors, seven rooms, space for up to six guests.

Three bedrooms: one double bed (140 x 200 cm) and four single beds (100 x 200 cm each), which works for families as well as for two couples. A travel cot is available.

Two bathrooms, one with a bathtub, both with windows. Two separate guest toilets.

The kitchen is fully equipped: ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, freezer, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, blender, crockery, cooking utensils, tea supplies and wine glasses.

Washing machine, drying rack and a vacuum cleaner for your use. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors installed.

Two TVs: 49 inch in the sunroom, 40 inch in a bedroom. Bluetooth speaker, books and board games.

The house was built in 1958 and fully renovated in 2026. Parquet floors in living room and bedrooms, gas-fired underfloor heating.

**Garden**
Lawn, sun loungers, garden furniture, parasol, covered terrace. There is a pond in the garden, roughly one metre deep and not fenced off. Please take this into account if you are travelling with small children.

A table tennis table is available.

**Car and e-bike**
Bikes and e-bikes are stored in the lockable garage and can be charged there. Two parking spaces are available in the driveway. In Aurich you can reach almost everything by bike, so the car can stay put.

**Location in Aurich**
The Caro shopping centre with supermarket, bakery and pharmacy is 400 m away. The pedestrian zone and the weekly market are 800 m. The Baalje indoor and outdoor pool with sauna is 500 m, and Aurich harbour on the Ems-Jade canal, with bike rental and a waterside café, is 600 m.

For rainy days: the Miraculum hands-on museum (900 m), the local history museum (900 m), the cinema (1.4 km). Further out: the Energy Experience Centre in Tannenhausen (4.3 km), the high ropes course (3.6 km) and Tannenhausen lake with its wakeboard park (7.4 km).

**East Frisia on your doorstep**
The North Sea coast is about 30 minutes by car. Ferries to the islands of Norderney and Juist leave from Norddeich, roughly 25 km away. The Wadden Sea is a UNESCO World Heritage site and guided mudflat walks start along the whole coastline.

Greetsiel, with its fishing harbour and twin windmills, is around 35 km away, as is Emden with its art gallery and regional museum.

When it rains, and in East Frisia it does, you do as the locals do: tea, rock sugar, cream, in that order.

**Good to know**
This is a non-smoking house. Pets are not allowed.

**Arrival**
Check-in is self-service via a key box. You arrive when it suits you. You receive the code before your stay.
