Head to Bowness-on-Windermere (2.5 miles) for lakeside cafes, independent shops and relaxed dining with a view. Walkers are spoilt for choice. Orrest Head (2 miles) is one of the most accessible viewpoints in the area, with panoramic vistas that are especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset. For something more challenging, venture 5 miles to tackle Wansfell Pike, rewarding you with sweeping views across the central fells. Explore Ambleside (6 miles), known for its charming streets and cosy eateries, or take a longer scenic drive to Grasmere (10 miles) for literary heritage and classic Lakeland scenery.
