The Old School House is a detached property near Ballater in Aberdeenshire, consisting of a kitchen/diner with electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle and toaster, along with a sitting room with open fire and TV, and a utility. The bedrooms include a king-size with en-suite walk-in shower, basin and WC, and a twin bedroom, served by a ground-floor bathroom with bath, shower over, basin, heated towel rail and WC. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent.
Outside, there are enclosed front and rear lawned gardens with furniture and off-road parking for 2 cars. Highchair, travel cot and stairgate are available on request. One well-behaved pet welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Gairnshiel School House provides a charming base for exploring the Cairngorms National Park. Good Housekeeping Bond 200 GBP. Note: Between November and March the property only accepts week long bookings.

The River Dee flows through Ballater and is well renowned for its salmon fishing during the fishing season. Royal Deeside is so-called because of its connection to the Royal Family, who have frequently visited the town since the time of Queen Victoria. There is excellent walking all around the area, as well as outdoor activities such as cycling, golf, skiing or wildlife excursions. The popular centres of Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore are within easy reach, as is the city of Aberdeen.
