The hotel is very new and extremely clean. Everything felt spotless and very well looked after. I also really liked that it’s family owned and run. You can tell the owners are very involved, and the staff were genuinely kind, welcoming and helpful. The location is very central and convenient, although the immediate area can feel a little rough at times. The design is also really beautiful. I stayed specifically in the Standard Queen room, and even with the limited space, I think they did a really good job making it feel chic, classy and quite luxurious. The bedding, bed, finishes and small details all felt premium and thoughtfully done. The bed itself was extremely comfortable, and the hotel was also very quiet. It does feel like a newer property that is still finding its footing, and overall you can tell a lot of care has gone into it.
My comments are specifically about the Standard Queen room, since I can’t speak for the larger room categories. Booking.com does list the room as 16 m², so the size itself wasn’t hidden, but I don’t think the photos fully show just how tight the room feels in person. I stayed for about 4–5 nights and I’m the type of traveller who brings a larger suitcase because I like having different clothes and outfits with me, and this is where the room became quite uncomfortable. There really isn’t enough space to properly open a larger suitcase and leave it somewhere without it getting in the way. I ended up basically living out of my suitcase and having to move around or step over it because there was nowhere practical to unpack or keep it open. There’s no proper closet, no chair or bench to put luggage on, very little space for shoes or belongings, and nowhere to really organize your things. For one person travelling very light with just a carry-on, I think it would be much easier. For a longer stay, larger luggage, or two people, I personally think the Standard Queen is too tight. The bathroom is very small as well, especially the shower. It’s narrow enough that you can easily hit the walls with your arms while showering. My biggest issue is probably the value. The quality and cleanliness are great, but depending on the rate, you can be paying close to what some full-service four-star hotels in Montreal charge for a much larger room and more amenities. There is no gym, pool or other real hotel facilities here, so for me the Standard Queen feels expensive for what you actually get. I also would have appreciated 24-hour reception and daily housekeeping without having to request it. Since the property is still quite new, some of these things may simply be part of the hotel still settling into its operations. One last small issue is the blackout blinds. They are blackout blinds, but quite a bit of sunlight still comes through around the edges in the morning.
