This place is incredibly fresh, clean, and well-kept. The design is minimalist and very thoughtfully laid out, making the most of the space and giving the whole place a wonderfully open, airy feel. One thing that might be misleading in the owner’s photos is that the windows are shown with the curtains fully closed, which can make the place look rather dark or even give the impression that there’s something wrong with the windows. There isn’t! The house has plenty of perfectly normal, opening windows, as well as a balcony, so there’s no shortage of natural light or fresh air. The windows are frosted, and some face neighboring buildings, but that’s really nothing unusual in a Japanese city. The balcony is also a lovely little spot to sit and relax. All the appliances are new, including an excellent large-capacity washer/dryer, good air conditioners, and a TV with Netflix. The place was absolutely spotless and completely free of any unpleasant smells, noise, insects, excessive heat, or humidity. Everything felt just right. The location is fantastic. The street itself is quiet and peaceful, but you’re still within easy walking distance of dozens of bars and restaurants. The station is about a 10-minute walk away, the temple complex is around 5 minutes away, and there’s also a stream just a few minutes from the house with a beautiful, shady walking path that leads to a small pond with one of the best views of Mount Fuji in the city. The owner is wonderful — friendly, polite, easy to communicate with, and very quick to respond. Check-in was also incredibly simple and hassle-free. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place. It has such a relaxed, cozy atmosphere — almost like staying at a little surfer-style ryokan by the coast. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and at home. The only thing to be aware of is the staircase.
