Tucked into the tall pines of Big Bear's Moonridge neighborhood, Pinewood Perch is the kind of mountain hideaway that makes you exhale the moment you step inside. Warm wood covers nearly every surface — from the beamed, vaulted ceilings to the paneled walls — bathing the whole home in a golden, lived-in glow that feels exactly like a cabin should. Sink into the sofa by the stone hearth, pull a book from the shelf, and let the quiet of the forest do the rest.
The heart of the home is built for gathering. A full kitchen gives you everything you need to cook a real meal, whether that's pancakes before a day on the slopes or something slow and simmering after one. When it's time to eat, a big table seats eight, with extra stools at the kitchen counter for the overflow. Multiple living spaces mean there's always a spot to land — one for the movie crowd, another for the puzzle-and-cards contingent.
When the day winds down, there's room for the whole crew to spread out. Generous bedrooms carry the same warm wood throughout, outfitted with a mix of California king, king, and queen beds, with a twin and a full sleeper sofa adding flexibility for a bigger group or the kids. Two bathrooms keep the morning rush moving, so no one's waiting long before that first cup of coffee.
Outside is where this place really opens up. Layered decks wrap around the cabin, shaded by the surrounding pines and built for long, easy afternoons. Fire up the grill, set the outdoor table, and let dinner stretch into golden hour as the light filters through the trees. Mornings are for coffee in the crisp mountain air; evenings are for stargazing under a sky the city never lets you see.
The location puts you in the middle of everything Big Bear does best. You're a short drive from Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, where winter means skiing and snowboarding and summer swaps in mountain biking, scenic chairlift rides, and miles of hiking trails. The Big Bear Alpine Zoo — a rescue sanctuary the whole family will love — is right around the corner, and the shimmering shoreline of Big Bear Lake is only minutes away for kayaking, fishing, and lazy afternoons by the water. When you're ready for a night out, the shops and restaurants of The Village are a quick hop down the mountain.
Come for the powder, the pines, or simply the chance to slow down — Pinewood Perch is a warm, woody basecamp for all of it.
