About this house rental
A stately, character-filled townhouse in the heart of Ostend, a short stroll from the beach, the station and the city's best restaurants. Behind the classic façade is a playful, art-filled interior over several floors, with a private wellness area, sauna, three full bathrooms and an inner courtyard. With multiple bedrooms and generous living spaces, it's made for large families and groups who want space, comfort and a real sense of place. One of Ostend's most distinctive homes.
The Space:
This grand old townhouse blends timeless character with a warm, modern and playful interior. From the moment you step into the black-and-white tiled entrance hall — guarded by a cheeky red bulldog — you'll feel the personality of the place.
The living room is comfortable and inviting, with a large leather corner sofa, a smart TV, original artwork and a striking Asian cabinet, all wrapped in soft, warm lighting. It flows into an elegant dining room with a large table that seats eight, a beautiful stained-glass window that floods the room with light, a piano and a curated whisky display — the perfect backdrop for long dinners and good company.
The kitchen is compact but fully equipped: dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster, Nespresso machine and a large American-style double fridge with ice dispenser. You'll find plenty of crockery, glassware, cutlery and cookware for the whole group. A sliding door opens onto a green inner courtyard with a garden set, ferns and a charming rock fountain — a quiet spot for morning coffee or an evening drink.
The real showstopper is the private wellness area: a spacious bathroom with a jet bath, walk-in shower and a fully installed sauna — your own spa to come home to after a day by the sea.
Sleeping space is spread thoughtfully across the upper floors. The first floor offers a generous bedroom made up of two connecting rooms, with a double bed, extra sofa beds and a child's bed, plus a beautiful bathroom with a freestanding tub, marble vanity and a large rain shower with a built-in bench. The second floor has its own bedroom with a double bed, a cosy reading nook, a bookcase and a chessboard, a modern walk-in shower bathroom, and a private terrace — a lovely sun trap. The top floor is a dream for children and extra guests, with additional beds, a desk corner and a dedicated playroom complete with a foosball table, kids' kitchen, games and books.
High ceilings, Ensor-inspired artwork and characterful details run throughout, giving every room its own atmosphere. With three full bathrooms, several separate toilets, a laundry room with washer and dryer, and living space on every floor, there's room for everyone to spread out and feel at home.
Guest Access:
Guests have the entire home to themselves across all floors — the living and dining rooms, kitchen, inner courtyard, the private wellness area with sauna, all bedrooms and bathrooms, the second-floor terrace, and the laundry room. One small storage area in the cellar is kept private for the owner; everything else is yours to enjoy.
The Neighborhood:
You're staying in the heart of Ostend, on a street named after Léon Spilliaert — one of the city's most celebrated artists — a fitting address for such an art-filled home. Everything that makes Ostend special is right on your doorstep.
The wide sandy beach and seafront promenade are a short walk away, perfect for long strolls, sunset views and fresh sea air. Art lovers can visit the James Ensor House and the Mu.ZEE art museum, both celebrating Ostend's rich artistic heritage. Stroll the Visserskaai (Fisherman's Quay) for the freshest seafood, explore the historic Mercator three-masted ship, or head to Fort Napoleon and the Atlantic Wall open-air museum for a dose of history.
Families will love Leopold Park and Maria Hendrikapark, with playgrounds and pedal-boats, while the Kursaal casino and the city's lively bars and restaurants keep the evenings buzzing. Whether you're here for culture, the coast or simply to relax, this home puts you right in the middle of it all.
Getting Around:
The location is wonderfully central and easy to explore on foot. Ostend railway station is about a 15-minute walk (roughly 1 km), with direct trains to Bruges, Ghent and Brussels. The Leopold I-plein bus and tram stop is just a few minutes away, connecting you to the Coastal Tram (Kusttram) that runs the entire Belgian coast. The beach is around a 10–15 minute walk, and the city centre, shops and restaurants are all within easy walking distance — so you can leave the car behind for most of your stay.
Other Things to Note:
This is a tall townhouse spread over several floors connected by stairs, so it's best suited to guests who are comfortable with stairs. The home is full of original art and characterful pieces — please treat them with care. With its space, private wellness area and central location, it's ideal for larger groups, multi-generational families and special occasions.
