I had a very disappointing experience with this hostel. When I checked in, I paid a 50 HKD deposit. However, when I checked out, the staff told me that my HKD deposit was lost and they could not return it in the original currency. At first, the front desk only offered me 100,000 VND, saying that their usual deposit amount is 100,000 VND. I explained that I paid 50 HKD, not 100,000 VND, and the exchange rate at the time was around 167,000 VND. Then they said they could not give that amount because of exchange loss. I found this very unreasonable. The deposit was lost on their side, but instead of taking responsibility and fully compensating me, they expected me to accept less money and bear the inconvenience myself. After discussion, they finally gave me 160,000 VND, which was still less than the value of my deposit. The issue is not about a small amount of money. It is about responsibility, trust, and basic service. A guest’s deposit should be kept safely and returned properly. The way the staff handled the situation was unprofessional and frustrating. Because of this experience, I would not recommend this hostel.

Very clean hostel, the bunks were almost like a capsule hotel and the showers were always clean and had hot water. They even provided free towels to use and locked storage.

I was very disappointed by the lack of professionalism in how this hostel handled my deposit. When I checked in, I paid a 50 HKD deposit. At check-out, the staff told me that my HKD deposit had been lost and could not be returned in the original currency. For a hostel, this is a serious management issue. A guest’s deposit should be properly recorded, stored, and returned according to what was paid. What made the situation worse was the way the staff handled the compensation. They first offered me only 100,000 VND, saying that this is their usual deposit amount. However, I did not pay 100,000 VND — I paid 50 HKD. Based on the exchange rate that day, 50 HKD was around 167,000 VND. When I explained this, they said they could not give me the full equivalent amount because of exchange loss. This was very unprofessional. The deposit was lost on the hostel’s side, so the guest should not be expected to bear the loss, exchange difference, or inconvenience. If a business cannot return the original currency, it should at least provide the full equivalent value and take responsibility for its own mistake. After discussion, they finally gave me 160,000 VND, which was still less than the value of my original deposit. The issue is not the small amount of money. The issue is the poor deposit management, unclear responsibility, and unprofessional customer service. A hostel that accepts deposits from guests should have a reliable system to keep and return them properly. Because of this experience, I do not feel this hostel handled guests’ money responsibly, and I would not choose to stay here again.
