清水季響庵-月

This lovely 2 bedroom apartment far exceeded our expectations in every way. First, it is a great location - walking distance to a number of sights and restaurants and bars but tucked back on a quiet charming street. Second, the apartment itself is just beautiful - my photos don’t even begin to do it justice. The construction and furniture is very high-end, down to the last detail. The appliances, lighting, climate control are modern and well thought out. There’s plenty of room for four people to spread out, with 2 bathrooms, a kitchenette, living room and dining room. The’ bedrooms are quite large and the bedding is comfortable amenities are generous, with toothbrushes, combs, hair dryers, razors, etc available. I would 100% come back on my next visit to Kyoto. It was fairly complicated to figure out the check in process, involving pre registration, checking in at nearby bike shop with someone who spoke only Chinese, and actually locating the place on Google Maps (use the gps coordinates). Once we got there,however it became our sanctuary after long days of sightseeing. We stayed 4 nights. And certainly quite reasonable for the price!

A couple of small nitpicks. The shampoo and conditioner is very strongly scented - I would bring your own if you have any sensitivities to smells. The pillows were ok but I would have preferred down. Also, they are building a house across the street so sometimes it’s a little noisy but the building is pretty well insulated so it’s not that disruptive

The house had a lovely smell of timber, nice lighting and very spacious.

We had an amazing stay at Kiyomizu Kikyoan, at the Tsuki property. The location is great, and the house is beautiful, in a quieter residential area but still very close to transit(6 mins to subway or 30 min walk to JR Kyoto station- quite a nice walk!) and convenience stores (Lawson is 4 mins away). We found it to be the perfect rejuvenating stay close to sightseeing spots, after a busy week in Tokyo. The house is well soundproofed and the beds are very comfortable. The garden, the stone soaking bath and the living room were all beautifully maintained and curated. We will be back to stay during our next stay! Our taxi driver accidentally dropped us off at the wrong location for check in and I stumbled across the office by luck- but check in was seamless aside from this. The office for checkin (for any one who has the same issue) is shared with a bicycle renting company. Staff are very responsive and friendly!
