Vellora residence

The apartment was very well appointed and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was excellent, with a supermarket just around the corner, only a 3-minute walk away, and bakeries nearby. The beach was only about a 5-minute walk, while downtown was around 10 minutes on foot. It was also a great location for walking up to the Castro. Everything was within easy reach, making it a very convenient base for exploring the area.

There was a very strong stale cigarette smell coming from the cupboard under the sink/bin area. It was so unpleasant that we avoided opening the cupboard altogether and kept our rubbish in a separate bag, which we took outside ourselves. The bed was also quite uncomfortable. One side is pushed against the wall, the mattress sinks noticeably in the middle, and the pillows are far too high. It makes getting in and out of bed difficult without disturbing the other person. I’m actually surprised this hasn’t been mentioned in other reviews. The shower setup could also be improved. It’s a handheld shower on a hose positioned over the bathtub, and the space is quite awkward. It’s very easy to bump the shower head off its holder while moving around. These issues are a shame because otherwise the accommodation was very good. If the smell, bed and shower setup were addressed, this could easily be a 5-star stay.
