Log cottage with sauna on historic family farm

The chicken coop is tucked away among the cherry trees on a working family farm with log buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. Here you’ll enjoy an authentic farm experience without internet, featuring a wood-fired sauna right outside the door, an intimate barbecue area, and swimming spots in the river and fjord.



Inside the house, you’ll find simple, thoughtfully designed furnishings that offer peace and quiet. The covered terrace features hammocks where you can relax with a book, while a fire pit with a grill grate awaits you by the barbecue area.



Outside, there are several spots to enjoy the summer: the wooden deck by the pond, the large green lawn in the middle of the yard, or among the perennial beds and old brown-stained timber walls. In the summer, you can order breakfast and dinner on select days, or join a storytelling session and guided tour of the storehouse dating from 1632.



Langedrag Nature Park is 30 minutes away, and two of Numedal’s stave churches are nearby. Fish in the Numedalslaagen, Norefjorden, or the mountain lakes; hike the Sherpa stairs to Haglebunatten; or go handcar cycling along the disused Numedal Railway. The center of Rødberg is 4 kilometers from the farm, with shops, a bakery, and restaurants.
