My apartment is a unique place from which to discover all the charm of our wonderful city; it’s located right in the heart of the city, next to Plaza de España, and at the foot of the Montjuïc area, home to the 1992 Olympic sports facilities, the Congress and Exhibition Center, the majestic, monumental building of the National Art Museum of Catalonia—which houses works by Catalan and international artists—and, above all, the best-known and most famous attraction, the Magic Fountain, which was the first fountain in the world built as a spectacle of light, color, and sound; it is a true delight for the senses to sit there at sunset and contemplate the marvelous interplay of light and water.Once you’ve strolled through the entire park grounds among its groves of exotic plants, you can choose to admire the view of the Port of Barcelona, its cruise ships, and the sailboats heading toward their berths in the Port Vell; And finally, the Las Arenas Shopping Center awaits you—located in what was once the bullring, right on Plaza de España—where you’ll find a multitude of shops offering fashion, gifts, food, and more.
In the center of Plaza de España, you can also admire the incomparable sculptural ensemble of the Flame of Liberty, which, along with the fountain, was built for the 1923 World’s Fair and gives shape and a sense of flow to the entire plaza.
Furthermore, the apartment is located in an area with excellent public transportation access, including the Red 1 and Green 3 metro lines; the Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya, which takes you to the towns surrounding Barcelona and also offers trips to the mountain of Montserrat. It also features the largest hub for city and suburban buses, with more than 15 lines.
