About this house rental
An Architectural Gem..
Hidden within Bermondsey's historic Thorburn Square Conservation Area, The Southwark Brick House offers the rare opportunity to stay inside an award-winning work of contemporary British architecture. Recognised with a RIBA London Award 2023 and a Surface Design Award for Housing 2023, this is one of the most unique homes in London and a truly inspired place in which to stay.
Unique Features
The house is arranged across three storeys, with a bespoke open-tread glass staircase and basement lightwell drawing natural light through the full depth of the plan. The exterior is laced with distinctive red brick, with deep-set oak-framed windows. Inside, a concrete and timber coffered ceiling defines the open-plan living space, with windows looking onto private garden spaces. Carefully selected furniture pieces by Carl Hansen and Arne Jacobsen complement the architecture, while a genuine Serge Mouille three-arm lamp anchors the living space. The superb kitchen is well equipped with 6 burner gas range cooker/oven, family fridge freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer and a Sage coffee machine.Accommodation and Sleeping
The house sleeps seven across three bedrooms and an additional daybed space at one end of the large lounge — well suited to a younger teen or child travelling with the group. The master bedroom has a king bed; the two further bedrooms each have queen beds. The bedrooms have full built-in wardrobes; the third also includes a sink. The house has two bathrooms (one with a bath as well as shower) and the kitchen /dining floor has a separate loo.
Outside Space
The house is fully detached with secluded private terraces, a privacy that is unusual in London. Perfect for anyone who appreciates considered design, values privacy, and wants to experience inner London, suitable for those here for work, a cultural visit, or simply to spend time in one of the city's most interesting neighbourhoods.
Three nights minimum — enough time to settle in and experience the house properly rather than pass through it.
