The Neighbourhood
On the doorstep. Circle on Cavill fronts Cavill Avenue, which is the centre of Surfers Paradise, so the shops, the bars and the restaurants start at the lift. White Rhino Bar & Eats is in the Circle on Cavill retail plaza. Grill'd is a few doors along Cavill.
Eating and drinking. Surfers Pavilion at 30 Ferny Avenue is a short walk for oysters and marina views, and Citrique at 158 Ferny Avenue does seafood. Sandbar at 52 Esplanade is a beachfront breakfast, Seascape Bar & Restaurant runs three levels of seafood, and Hurricane’s Grill does steak over the water. BOBs Beer on Elkhorn Avenue is a microbrewery; Benny’s Burgers is on Hanlan Street; Longboards Laidback Eatery sits at Northcliffe Terrace. Short drive: Yamagen at QT Gold Coast, Fu Manchu on Chevron Island, Valyn Thai and Isla Cantina on Via Roma, and Palette at HOTA, which holds three chef hats.
Beach and things to do. Surfers Paradise Beach is about five minutes' walk east, patrolled. Budds Beach is calmer, on the river side. The Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets run along the Esplanade several evenings a week. The observation deck at the top of the Q1 tower is a short walk. Sea World is ten minutes by car at Main Beach; Warner Bros. Movie World, Wet'n'Wild and Dreamworld are 25 to 30 minutes north.
Getting around. Cavill Avenue G:link station is at the door, and the tram runs south to Broadbeach, Pacific Fair and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in about ten minutes, north through Main Beach and Southport to Helensvale. Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta is roughly half an hour, Brisbane Airport an hour and a quarter.
Practical. A Coles supermarket is a short walk away. Pindara Private Hospital at Benowa has a 24-hour emergency centre, and Gold Coast University Hospital at Southport has its own tram station. Griffith University Gold Coast, People First Stadium at Carrara and Cbus Super Stadium at Robina are all an easy drive.
