Taormina In Light Suites

I stayed in the Luce Suite for a week in September and overall really enjoyed my stay. The apartment has been beautifully designed and finished to a very high standard, and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into the details. One thing I don’t think is particularly clear from the description is that there are three apartments at the property: Alba, Luce and Luna. When you enter through the main gates, all three apartments are below the entrance level, although their balconies face in the opposite direction, so they don’t feel like traditional basement apartments. Alba is the lowest apartment, followed by Luce, with Luna at the highest level. All of the apartments are accessed via stairs, so I would say this may not be particularly suitable for elderly guests, wheelchair users or guests with prams. The automatic gate and digital access codes for both the main entrance and the apartment doors were a great feature. I thought this was very clever and convenient, as there was no need to carry keys around. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the walk-in wardrobe was fantastic, and the bathroom was lovely. I really couldn’t fault the design, quality or features of the apartment itself. The TV had Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming services, so you can log in using your own subscriptions. There is also a soundbar which you can connect to via Bluetooth to play your own music, which I thought was a really nice touch. The location is good, with the main town centre around a seven-minute walk away. I would estimate that around five minutes of the walk is uphill, so it is worth bearing this in mind if mobility is an issue. The apartment itself was very clean, the kitchen was well equipped, and the living room was comfortable and well furnished. Lastly, the caretaker kindly carried my suitcase down the stairs when I arrived and back up again when I left.

I stayed in the middle apartment, Luce, and occasionally I could hear the guests above walking around or watching their TV. This wasn’t a major problem during my stay, but if I returned, I would probably choose Luna, simply because it is the top apartment and would likely be quieter. As the apartment is situated in a residential area, there are quite a few homes nearby with pet dogs, and I did experience quite a lot of loud barking. It wasn’t particularly noticeable when I was inside the apartment, but it could become frustrating when sitting outside on the balcony. Unfortunately, this meant I didn’t make as much use of the balcony or the jacuzzi as I had hoped. I also experienced quite a lot of mosquito bites when sitting outside, which was another reason I didn’t spend as much time on the balcony. One small issue was that the apartment description states that there is a vacuum cleaner, but there wasn’t one in my apartment. As I stayed for seven nights, I would have found a vacuum very useful during my stay.
