    I chose Yatu Lau Lagoon Resort primarily because of its convenient location right next to the dive shop, and for that purpose it was ideal. It is a little removed from the other resorts, the shops at the Art Village and the bus stop, so a vehicle or taxi is useful if you want to get out and about. Having read previous reviews before arriving, I had a reasonable idea of what to expect. Yatu Lau is perhaps best described as a grand old lady that is now showing a few wrinkles with age. It is certainly not a modern resort, but it is clean and tidy, and I found everything to be functional and well maintained. When I stayed, the resort was very quiet, with only a handful of guests. There were no large, noisy groups or functions, which made it a particularly peaceful place to stay. Obviously, this may vary depending on when you visit, but during my stay the quiet atmosphere was a definite plus. There are some modern necessities that are missing, such as power points next to the bed and a room safe, but these were minor inconveniences rather than anything that affected my stay. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I only ventured out to another restaurant once during my stay, and honestly felt that Yatu Lau served the better food. The staff were consistently warm, friendly and welcoming, which added considerably to the experience. My room was well looked after by housekeeping, and importantly, I had none of the issues mentioned in some of the older reviews regarding hot water or things not working. Everything worked fine throughout my stay. The grounds were clean and well looked after, and the pool appeared clean and well maintained, although I didn't actually use it. Overall, Yatu Lau suited me very well as a base for my diving trip. It may be showing its age, but the friendly staff, surprisingly good food, clean and functional accommodation, peaceful atmosphere and extremely convenient location made for a very enjoyable stay. If you arrive knowing that this is an older property rather than expecting a modern resort, I think you'll find it a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

    Ren down, and dirty. . Our room had bed bugs. It traumatized my children and damaged my belongings.
