About this house rental

Summary:

A log cabin tucked into the redwoods on nearly a third of an acre outside Gualala — close enough to hear the surf in the distance, private enough to feel like your own forest. Two bedrooms sleep 4, with a full kitchen, an expansive deck with a fire table, air conditioning, and an EV charger. Beaches, trails, and downtown Gualala are minutes away.

The Space:

Tucked among the redwoods on nearly a third of an acre just outside Gualala, this two-bedroom log cabin trades road noise for birdsong and the distant sound of surf. The setting does the work here: a private forest clearing, big trees overhead, and the Mendonoma coast a few minutes down the road.

Inside, the log construction keeps things warm and honest — wood walls, comfortable seating, and a TV with streaming (log in with your own accounts) for movie nights when the fog settles in. The kitchen is stocked for real cooking with a full fridge, stove, oven, and dishwasher, so breakfast before the beach and dinner after the trail are both easy. Air conditioning keeps the cabin comfortable on warm afternoons, and the washer and dryer earn their keep on longer stays.

The expansive deck is the heart of the stay. Gather around the fire table as the evening cools, eat outside under the trees, or just sit with coffee and listen to the forest wake up. If you drive an EV, plug in overnight with the on-site charger and start every day with a full charge.

From the cabin, spend your days the Mendonoma way: beaches and tidepools along Highway 1, bluff and forest hikes, kayaking on the Gualala River, whale watching in season (December through April), and galleries and restaurants in downtown Gualala a few minutes away. Surf Market in town covers groceries and its popular weekend barbecue, and Gualala Point Regional Park has river-mouth beach access and bluff trails.

The Neighborhood:

Gualala is the hub of the Mendonoma coast — a small town with surprisingly good food, art galleries, a well-stocked Surf Market, and the Gualala River meeting the Pacific at Gualala Point Regional Park. From the cabin you're a few minutes' drive from beaches, bluff trails, and redwood hikes, with the Point Arena Lighthouse a scenic drive north and Sea Ranch's famous architecture just south.

Getting Around:

Gualala is about 2.5 hours north of San Francisco via Highway 101 to Highway 1, with the final stretch along one of California's most scenic coastal drives. Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa is roughly 90 minutes away. A car is essential on this coast — and if yours is electric, the cabin's EV charger has you covered.

Other Things to Note:

The cabin sits in a quiet forest setting — nights are dark (wonderful for stargazing), so bring a flashlight for evening walks. Streaming TV is available with your own guest logins. Gray whales pass offshore December through April, and summer mornings often start with coastal fog that burns off by midday. Cell service can be spotty along the coast.
