About this house rental

Breathtaking view of the Caribbean Ocean, sea, snorkelling & diving mere ft away.
Ideal for independent travelers who want to get away from the crowds, yet be right at the water's edge, our 2-story oceanfront town-home is nestled among lush tropical plants and swaying palm trees, cooled by steady breezes -- minutes from Curaçao's five most beautiful beaches. Swim, snorkel and dive some of the world's most vibrant sites, including our famed local 'Alice in Wonderland' reef. Mountain bike, hike Mt. Christoffel, or relax by the pool in sunny 88° temps. Everything inside is designed for your comfort, from the fully equipped kitchen (with hot water) and open-plan living space with queen-size couch that pulls out to a bed for extra guests, to the second story king-size bed and spacious balcony with glorious views from sunrise to sunset. Pluses include flat-screen TV, dedicated wireless internet, linens & towels, screened windows & doors, hot-water showers in both baths, air conditioners & ceiling fans up and down, computer table, balcony dining table, etc. Two dive shops & 5 restaurants nearby.

Things to Do in Wespunt and Nearby: There's lots to enjoy at our rural west end of the island -- diving, snorkelling, swimming, mountain biking, hiking, etc. Westpunt alone features six great eateries, from the famous Lodge Kura Hulanda and Sunshine's Sol Food where you'll find great pizza, to the restaurant at Landhuis Misje. Just down the road, nature lovers will thrill to the 'roller-coaster' drive through Mt. Christoffel Park, home of Curaçao's highest peak. There you'll enjoy sweeping panoramic views, prehistoric cave paintings, the ruins of an old colonial plantation houses, and lush bromeliads and rarely seen orchids -- if you time your visit right! Keep your eyes out for the island's fascinating wildlife, whether it be iguanas lounging in the sun, warawara falcons soaring overhead, or chattering green and yellow parakeets darting playfully through the trees. It's not uncommon to see a goat comically standing on its hind legs in quest of a tempting morsel high overhead.

Further Afield on the Island: Beyond Westpunt, the hilly landscape reminds one of the American West with its towering cacti, iguanas and arid climate. When not beach-hopping among 38 different beaches, playing golf, windsurfing or sailing, you can explore 18th century plantation Landhuises featuring historic museums, fine restaurants, even the internationally renowned Chobo Lobo distillery, producer of the only authentic Blue Curaçao Liqueur. Other attractions include the oldest Synagogue in the New World, ostrich and aloe farms, a flamingo park, a stamp museum and an aquarium. And you won't want to miss the colorful Dutch Colonial capital Willemstad -- a UNESCO historic site -- for world-class shopping and island crafts, dining at an international array of restaurants and bars, or tempting Lady Luck at a number of different casinos. Don't miss a walk across the Queen Emma Bridge in Willemstad, known as the "Swinging Old Lady," is a unique 16-pontoon floating bridge that swings open laterally to let ships pass in Willemstad. It connects Punda and Otrobanda, operated by diesel engines and often opens in under 60 seconds. Pedestrians can walk across or take a free ferry when it is open. Curaçao has something for everyone!

Interesting Facts about Curaçao: Curaçao is simply fantastic! It's new to the tourist business and everyone goes out of the way to make you happy and in love with their home island they're so proud of. Very clean and safe, the capital city of Willemstad has undergone a renaissance, with new paving, shopping, more restaurants. US and Canadian vacationers are discovering an island that's been a Dutch favorite for eons. Though everyone speaks English and the American dollar is accepted most everywhere, there's a wonderful Continental vibe to the island that's intoxicating. Plus, Curaçao is the most racially and culturally diverse nation in the world -- 56 nationalities among 160,000 residents! Discover all Curaçao has to offer -- and we guarantee you, you'll return, again and again.

Great stay- loved the resort, the view, and the steps right into the ocean. Super close to several beautiful beaches and two national parks. Furniture / kitchen are dated and a little worn, but that wasn't a big deal to us. Host provided an excellent packet of info about the area that was super helpful. One thing folks should be aware of is that the dining options on this part of the island are a bit limited and you generally need to make reservations in advance everywhere.

Unit and resort are well maintained. Staff are very friendly. The location and views are astonishingly beautiful! Restaurants are very close by, the pool is nice, and the property allows direct diving in divine Caribbean waters.

We loved this home and want to return. We are off the beaten path travelers. The location was perfect because it was away from the city with all the traffic. If you’re looking for nightlife, this is not the spot. We spent our days looking out into the vast ocean and horizon. Absolutely love the stairs to the tiny cliff jump into the Clearwaters. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. The hosts were kind and communicative if you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing and get away this is it.
