About this apartment rental

Summary:

A ten-minute walk to Bondi Beach, a parking space of your own, and a front door that opens with a code whenever you happen to arrive. The Curlewis is built around the three things that actually decide whether a Bondi stay is easy or a fortnight of small frustrations.

The Space:

Warm contemporary interiors and generous open-plan living and dining, arranged so two couples or a family of four are not queuing for anything. The kitchen is fully equipped for proper cooking, and the ambient electric fireplace makes the living room the right place to be from May through August. Air conditioning handles the other end of the year. An internal laundry with washer and dryer sits behind a door rather than down the corridor.

Sleeping arrangements

Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, comfortable for four guests. The second bathroom is the detail that makes this work for two couples travelling together or a family with teenagers, and it is the reason to choose this over the many one-bathroom two-bedders in the same streets.

Work and connectivity

Fast Wi-Fi for work and streaming, and a dining table that serves as a desk. Bondi Junction is ten minutes by bus with the Eastern Suburbs line into the CBD in another fifteen, so a working week from here is straightforward.

Arrival and parking

Smart lock with self check-in, so a late flight or an early start needs no coordination with anyone. Secure on-site parking is included, which in Bondi is rarer than a sea view and worth more day to day. It also makes a drive to the Royal National Park or the Blue Mountains a simple decision.

The neighbourhood

Bondi Beach is the ten-minute walk down Curlewis Street. The coastal path south from the Icebergs pool runs to Tamarama and Bronte and is the best hour anyone spends here. Bondi Icebergs Dining Room is the booking worth making in advance, and Sean's has been quietly excellent for two decades. Mornings are covered by Speedos Cafe at the north end, Porch and Parlour in North Bondi, Lox Stock and Barrel on Hall Street, and Gertrude and Alice, the secondhand bookshop cafe locals use as a lounge room. North Bondi Fish and Harry's Bondi handle dinner without a reservation.

Hall Street has the groceries, the chemist and the bottle shop. The Bondi Farmers Market runs Saturdays at Bondi Beach Public School. Bondi Pavilion on the sand carries exhibitions and a small theatre, and Campbell Parade is the promenade proper, busy from December in the way you want it to be.

Bondi Junction is the practical hub one suburb west: Westfield, David Jones, Coles and the train line. Rose Bay and Double Bay are a short drive for sheltered harbour swimming and boutiques. Waverley Cemetery on the clifftop is a quietly beautiful walk almost no visitor finds.

Medical and university stays work well from this address. The Royal Hospital for Women and Prince of Wales at Randwick are ten minutes. St Vincent's and St Vincent's Private in Darlinghurst are fifteen. UNSW Kensington is twelve minutes, the University of Sydney twenty-five, and Sydney Airport around twenty-five minutes outside peak.

Who it suits

Two couples who each want a bathroom. Families of four who need the beach close and a quiet street at night. Corporate guests on a fortnight who need a kitchen, a laundry and Wi-Fi that holds a call. Medical visitors near Randwick. Anyone relocating to the Eastern Suburbs who wants a base with parking while they look for somewhere permanent.
