About this house rental

Summary:

Soak in the deck hot tub as redwoods tower overhead on three gated acres in Cazadero. Two queen bedrooms sleep 4, with a stone-framed wood stove, a sunroom with its own TV and writing desk, and a fenced play yard for kids and dogs. Forest paths start 0.7 miles from the door; the Russian River and its tasting rooms are an easy drive.

The Space:

Three gated acres of redwood forest wrap this single-level Cazadero cabin — a private, unhurried basecamp where the hot tub steams on the deck and dogs get room to be dogs. Spend mornings with coffee under the trees, afternoons floating the Russian River or tasting at Korbel and Joseph Jewell (both an easy drive down the canyon), and evenings soaking under the redwoods.

The heart of the home wraps a stone-framed wood-burning stove. Sink into the seating, browse the board games, or slip into the separate sunroom with its own TV, writing desk, and vaulted ceilings. Knotty pine cabinets in the kitchen echo the forest outside, a gas range and dishwasher ready for any meal. Pull up to the dining table for six or claim a stool at the bar — Caz at its most lived-in.

Evenings are the point here. Fire up the gas grill on the upper deck, eat outside as the light drops through the trees, then trade the dining table for the hot tub and let the forest go quiet around you. Cell service fades in the canyon — the WiFi keeps you connected, but the better move is letting the redwoods win for a weekend.

OUTDOOR LIVING

The wraparound deck offers multiple levels — grill on the upper deck, dine outdoors, or soak in your private hot tub surrounded by redwoods. The covered front porch and game table in the secluded yard provide even more space. A fenced play yard with picnic table and seesaw is for kids and dogs.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Two peaceful bedrooms each offer a queen bed with traditional wood furniture against pale yellow walls. Sleeps 4.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

-- 3 gated acres of redwood forest

-- Full kitchen with dishwasher

-- Gas grill

-- Fully fenced play yard

-- Dog-friendly (1 dog up to 50 lbs.)

-- Washer and dryer, WiFi

Guest Access:

Drop into the private hot tub on a deck wrapped by old-growth redwoods, then stoke the wood-burning stove inside under exposed beams. The whole single-level cabin is yours, dog included — the multi-level decks keep you tucked away in the forest. Let yourself in with the keypad code, and pull up to two cars in front.

The Neighborhood:

Cazadero is a quiet redwood canyon community minutes from the Russian River. Forest paths start 0.7 miles from the door, Cape Fear Café is 1.5 miles away, and Guerneville's shops, restaurants, and Johnson's Beach are about 20 minutes. Armstrong Redwoods and the Sonoma Coast at Jenner make classic day trips.

Getting Around:

Cazadero is about an hour and 45 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and River Road — a scenic drive into a quiet redwood canyon. A car makes the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast easy to explore, from redwood groves to coastal bluffs. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so downloading offline maps before you arrive is worth it.

Other Things to Note:

The cabin stays naturally cool under the redwood canopy — there's no air conditioning, and most evenings don't need it. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so download offline maps before you arrive; WiFi is available at the cabin. Dogs are welcome, and the fenced play yard is theirs too.

Wagging Woods was the perfect cabin in the woods getaway we were looking for! This is one of those stays where you can tell that the people that own it actually stay there themselves. It has all the amenities that make a home feel extra comfortable and cozy and kitchen has all the equipment that you need for making great meals. Also this cabin truly feels like you're in the forest by yourself. There are neighbors but you can't see them. Every morning I went out on the deck and enjoyed my coffee while listening to the birds and feeling an immense sense of peace and relaxation- just me, my dog, the trees, and the birds 3 The hot tub is in the perfect spot and the outdoor lights make it so cute and welcoming. Just make sure to watch out for ticks which is to be expected but I didn't think of it right away. It was also quick and easy to pop over to Jenner to see the ocean and there is a general store very close by if you forget anything. The hosts were really helpful and accommodating with getting us some items we left behind too. Really a great experience end to end. We can't wait to go back!

It was cozy, clean and welcoming. We very much enjoyed our stay. We were even there during a storm with the power out for a couple hours, and it was still great! Thank you for being so dog friendly! We hope to come back!

The windows and doors to the outside dodge have screens to prevent bugs, etc from flying in. It would have been also better if the rental didn't look like it had any caulking or repairs done near the electrical outlets, as in certain areas it was obvious that the electrical outlets were barely built/screwed into the walls?
