About this house rental

Cute and comfortable, this quiet cottage built in 1800 offers a peaceful escape for those in search of a tranquil Boothbay Harbor experience. Unplug and appreciate the surroundings in the warmth of the sunroom. The living room includes more blankets, additional seating, and a resituated pull-out couch for optimal lounging as you watch TV. Enjoy a peaceful night's rest on the California King bed in the main bedroom, just updated in December 2024. Need some quiet time? Enjoy the separate bunkhouse that has been converted into a comfortable, relaxing space with a library. The Lobster Trap, a three-season (spring, summer, and fall) garage hangout space, features cozy blankets, an electric fireplace, a couch, a custom bar with bar stools, a Fire TV, and a full-sized refrigerator. For fun, try the ping-pong table, the dartboard, the deluxe Scrabble board, or a game of Hook 21. The yoga mat is perfect for winding down, as are the L.L. Bean rocking chairs.

Take a walk through the neighborhood on your way to the beach at Barrett Park. The cottage is located on 1.5 acres giving it a secluded feel. There are also great outdoor spaces, including two lawns for the kids to play on, a firepit location with Adirondack chairs and new solar lighting for family gatherings, a propane grill, and many lawn games included with the property. Indulge in grilled meals on the new custom-built picnic table. There is very little light pollution on the property so the stars are beautiful if you are interested in stargazing. When it's time to call it a night, take refuge in the primary bedroom and turn on the electric fireplace for a cozy ambience as you drift to sleep.

This home sits within walking distance of Barrett Park (three-quarters of a mile south), where you can have a scenic picnic or swim in the waters of Lewis Cove. Downtown Boothbay Harbor is one mile west across the footbridge, home to beautiful marinas, fantastic restaurants, and charming shops. The area immediately surrounding town is similarly full of activities. It is also less than three miles from the Boothbay Harbor Country Club. Take the kids to the Maine State Aquarium, located four miles west. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are also just four miles away, where you can walk the trails to view 250 acres of manicured gardens and natural landscape.

This home has been the epitome of a coastal Maine home for over 222 years. The charm and solid construction is both timeless and enduring. You'll enjoy the cottage and all that the Boothbay Harbor area offers during your stay.

Close to town and Barrett’s park( a free place to swim, picnic and just relax on Lobster Cove). A washer and dryer were missed.

Enjoyable stay in very clean and tidy charming house! We loved our walk to Barrett Park along the water, shopping downtown at fun convenient shops, dining at three good restaurants. (Port of Italy, McSeasgull, and Blue Moon for breakfast. The Library and game room were there if we needed them, but were content to sit on the Library porch and read, listening to the birds.Loved being close to the water!Thank you from us all! Looking forward to a return visit.

This is a very charming cottage with a lot of character and great location. We especially appreciated all the tips on restaurants and things to do. It’s on the trolley route and close to the foot bridge. Cons include the tiny bathroom (this would not be a good property for people of size. There is a tiny RV type shower. My husband and I and our 3 young kids were fine for 3 nights but wouldn’t want to stay longer). This is also not a kitchen you’d want to cook in. No dishwasher (which was advertised) and not a lot of counter space. This was fine for us as we ate out for lunches and dinners and just had simple breakfast items there so it worked well. The floors and ceilings are all slanted and wouldn’t be good for those with mobility issues. It was fine for us but would want others aware of that. This is also not a lounging type house if you’re looking for a property to lounge around on comfy furniture, etc. There isn’t space for that. We did appreciate the blankets though and homey touches. Overall, this is a great place for a small, young family that is close to everything but wouldn’t want to stay longer than 3 days. Lots of charm and character and fun to say you stayed at a cottage from the 1800’s. Also- I know it advertises sleeping 7 but I wouldn’t do more than 5 and no more than 3 adults as it’s very tiny. Kitchen and bath updates are needed but fine for a short, quick stay. There was also a nice outdoor fire pit (we didn’t have time to use it).
