About this villa rental

Summary:

The main house is located in a 300-year-old watermill on the banks of the Coura River in Vilar de Mouros. Stone, wood, and water create a unique experience in the Minho region: a private river beach, lovingly restored interiors, and capacity for 8 people. 5 km from Caminha and 10 km from the Atlantic. Ideal for groups, families, and celebrations that deserve something out of the ordinary.

The Space:

Three hundred years of history are hidden within the granite walls of this restored watermill in Vilar de Mouros, where the constant murmur of the Coura River enters through the dark wood windows. The main house accommodates 8 people in four bedrooms with queen-size and twin beds; inside, the original granite coexists with walnut-toned wood flooring, exposed beams, and a surprising detail: a glass panel in the floor reveals the mill's centuries-old mechanisms. The equipped kitchen and spacious dining area with handcrafted chandelier complete a space where time seems to have found its perfect rhythm.

The Neighborhood:

The Coura River embraces the property in a generous bend, offering a river beach with crystal-clear waters right on the doorstep. Vilar de Mouros is a village in Alto Minho where the silence is punctuated by birdsong and the sound of water running between the rocks. Five kilometers away, Caminha preserves its medieval historic center with the Clock Tower and granite square. Closer still, Vila Nova de Cerveira invites you to explore the art and castle along the Minho River. Spain is just 20 kilometers away: La Guardia and its seafood preserves are a classic getaway. Viana do Castelo, with the Basilica of Santa Luzia perched atop the hill, deserves a whole afternoon.

Getting Around:

A car is the most comfortable way to explore the region: Caminha is 5 minutes away, Viana do Castelo 30 minutes, and Porto just over an hour. The A28 motorway provides quick access to the north and south, and the border with Spain in Caminha opens the door to the Galician Rías Baixas. There is private parking on the property for several vehicles. For those who prefer public transport, Transdev buses connect Vilar de Mouros to Caminha, where there is a train connecting to Porto.
